not a very effective 'cork' either.

I've had probably 5 or 6 diff dogs and house broke them all the same way. When I'm at the house I always have a pair of slippers on and everytime the dog does something bad i yell NO at him and  take one off and whoop his rear with it, you'll only have to do it 3 or 4 times then everytime you go to take your shoe off in the future and yell no the dog will know that he's doing something worng. remember theres no use in beating an animal if it doesn't know what it did wrong. He'll understand that no word and stop whatever he is doing... The main thing is to catch him as he's squatting or about to go, not after. just pick him up and put him out the back door, he'll figure it out after a few weeks it doesn't take that long. I've heard of people trying to get them to go on newspaper and then moving the newspaper outside but I think that will just confuse the dog more. Just remember everything the dog does, he is trying to do for you to make you happy, thats what they have been bread for. So when you get mad at them you don't need to beat the dog to death, just give him a quick swap and say no, they'll know there doing something wrong

Wont work. Too long gone. Association made not with the wrong-doing but with owner. Has opposite effect.

You know some just can't be housetrained. Too old, or not enough electrical synapsis firing in the old noodle.

Have you considered just tying him up in the back yard, and throwing the occasional table scrap at him? Might be the best you can hope for:(

Alternate a shock collar when he's bad, with treats when he's good. Works for most dogs, don't see why it wouldn't work for him.
