To all you fathers out there
« on: September 06, 2005, 02:03:23 PM »
My 21 year old son called me and said dad I got to help those people that are displaced by the hurricane. I am being flown tonight to Sacramento to join 30 other volunters. We will be dispatched to where they need us. I have just got my training through the Red Cross, got my tetnis and typhoyd shots. My to jobs gave me ok to leave for two weeks. Do not worry I will stay in touch but I feel I have to do this. He said if this happened to us in Los Angeles I would hope someone would help us. Man he brought tears to my eyes.

BT, WTG on raising that boy to manhood. Great job

to both of you.

WTG  That is reflection on the upbring he had.

That shows you that he was listening when you were lecturing him and thought he was just giving you that teenager blank look to piss you off.

You should be very proud of your son, he has become a man.

I hope someday I get to post something like this with regard to my son.

Best wishes to your son BTAirsol.

I got a 21 year old son in N.O. right now too. He is a member of the 1st Cav based out of Ft Hood. He was wounded by mortar fire in Bahgdad in March of 2004 ,  he took part in the battle of Fallugia, last November. Guarded hot spots during the Iraqi elections last December. He called last Thursday morning to let me know he was going to N.O.

I got a chance to talk to him last night , as far as he knew they were moving into the 9th ward today wherever that is in N.O. to help get anybody left stranded out, and to subdue looters. He said they would probably be tasked with removal of bodies once the evacuation phase was complete. Much has been said about the younger generation, personally I think they are setting a fine example.
