My SGT :)
« on: September 09, 2005, 02:06:37 AM »
A while back I was working Edisto-B cellblock at Leiber CI when a new arrival came.  He asked to speak to my SGT but I informed him that she was not in yet.  A few hours later when she walked in that inmate was still standing next to her door, he had stood there the whole time.  We went into her office and closed the door.  She set down at her desk and asked him what his problem was and he stated that this was his first night in prison and that he was in for sex crimes against a child.  He had heard what happend to people like him behind the walls and wanderd if there was anything he should do to keep it from happening to him.  My SGT looked him in the eye, smiled then said "Don't sleep on your stomach".   :)

Im hoping that the rumor alone of what happens to them in jail is enough to deter a few of these bugs.

Unfortunetly, criminals don't particularly pay attention to the various penalties as they really don't think they'll get caught.
After they're caught is a different matter though LOL.

Here's the really funny part.

When he gets out of jail, he'll be a bigger threat than he was when he went in.

Isn't our penal system just peachy?

Yeah and since our justice system does not really consider these predetors a real threat he will be back out raping children in 5 to 10 years.

But hey kiddy rapists have rights too:rolleyes:

Not my point.

After this ****heel goes to jail, we taxpayers get to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on his incarceration.

What do we get for our money?

The same predator... just intensified.

Something is wrong with the system. I don't what the answer is. Maybe it would be best if we just put the son of ***** down.

Oh I understand your point Sandy and I agree, the idea they go in and get to work our and learn how to be a bigger better stronger criminal is a problem.

Some criminals can be rehabed, some cant but like most sex offenders, but what can be done? How do you fix it?

Sub,
The ACLU just would not stand for that. I think the best is life with no Parole for sex offenders.

I don't know.

It just irritates me that a correctional officer thinks that it's funny. Yeah, he's going to be a victim for a change. Whoopee. If he survives it, he's going to come back to the world as a bigger threat. It's just amazingly short-sighted to think it's funny.

sandman... surely a sex offender that molested children would get at least 40 years in prison?

That being the case a 70 year old man released would not be much threat to the rest of us.

Sandman, I've seen some bad things in prison and a child rapest getting a new one is the least of it.  There is no worse crime to man then a crime against a child.  The courts can not punnish a man enough for the pain a child feels.

If I see something happening to an inmate I'll stop it reguardless of what their crime is, don't get me wrong.  But I've never lost sleep at seeing peices of an inmates skull on the floor either.

Really? How often have you seen news stories about convicted sex offenders getting early release and then committing another similar crime?

It happens.
