First off, no one was hurt. My neighber busted his nose on his glasses or something and his wife (who was driving) has a sore neck. They had their new born and 6 year old in the car with them, the baby didn't even wake up the older boy was startled but ok. She was taking them to a soccor game and said "damn I wish I had my sun-glasses" then BAM!

I was sound asleep and heard a loud bang, looked out the window and shouted an explitive.

Anyhow I think my jeep is totaled. The tub itself buckled all the way up to the drivers side door.

I didn't post the resting pics but the Jeep was pushed a good 10 feet up onto my curb.

I think it did pretty well compared to the exterra. She was only going maybe 15 MPH. These are our neighbors and good people. As luck would have it we both have the same insurance company. I hope it's not totaled cause I really can't afford another car payment right now and the Jeep's been paid off for well over a year now.

What pisses me off the MOST is my Jeep has a FULL tank of gas in it. $50 worth. My neighbor and I are currently looking for a gas syphen because it's the same deal on his end.

Anyone know how to short out the fuel pump and off load it the easy way?

Good thing that noone was hurt.

Perhaps the xterra did what it was supposed to do and buckled to absorb energy instead of putting the E into the people.

yup their baby is only 2 weeks old and her husband didn't have his seat belt on yet. He broke his nose on the dash. It could have been alot worse.

So the fuel pump is in the gas tank itself. All the lines going to the gas tank are crimped from the impact. The area needed for space to get to said fuel lines is now compacted. Unless I can figure how to hook a tube up and use the pump to get the gas out I'm out $50.

Chris,
Locate your fuel pump relay, then disconnect it. If your engine still runs (check your battery first to make sure it isn't ruptured, leaking, or shorted out), start it until it dies. Crank it over a few more times to remove all pressure from the line. Disconnect the battery. Should now be safe to disconnect a fuel line.

The Jeep is fuel injected and has a depresurization valve on the fuel rail itself

But,
Then reinstall the relay and pump the gas pedal while the ignition is on?

Or just turn the key over and the fuel pump should spin up the fuel trying to re-pressurize the line?

I've never had to do anything like this.

OH BTW, I had another buddy look at it and after a closer inspection the frame itself is buckled.

Anyone know how to turn the fuel pump without turning the starter?
