Honor in Trinity TT
« on: September 13, 2005, 12:21:25 AM »
Tonight the Knights showed a respected enemy Honor in TT.  A respected Rook was in a tiger, he had a really good spot. I went into HUNT mode with a panzer, after he killed me a couple of times. I announced on 200 that I was hunting him. He asked for mercy, as he wanted to save his tiger. I managed to get behind him and at D200 took his turret out. I asked him on 200 if he was going to land and he said yes. I followed him and had other Knights ask if I was going to kill him. I asked them to show him some honor and let him land. He landed 19 kills and we saluated him.

Still, a little act of faith isn't too bad from time to time.

I generally give no mercy nor expect any..

...but sometimes.. after a good fight, when I see the particular enemy plane has engine stopped.. I'd let him ditch, and fly around him at low alts, shaking wings.

Mercy is a total act of whim.. but it doesn't feel too bad. Probably the guy received it feels the same (I hope)

SCDR  for showing that there is honor left amongst our group of addicts.

I did the same thing against AKhumble.    He was returning to his carrier well below BINGO fuel but still had some ammo left.    I was saddled up on his six at D400 or so.  I asked him his state and he said very little fuel.      I let him go.

He had already shot me down once on this sortie of his and I came back full of piss and vinegar wanting some revenge.    For some unknown reason I actually asked his status on 200 channel.

Hehe.....

I'd of shot my sorry prettythang out of the sky:aok

But actually went back and posted a thanks on the BBS. It's certainly one of the aspects of the game that has changed markedly since the original beta. As a side note I've let more than a few cripples go since then if it felt "right".....

I don't see any honor showed by the player in the tiger by camping

I would have finished him off

Don't get me wrong, I've done my share of camping, but I don't try to claim it to be honorable and I don't ask for mercy either.

One time Westy and I had a great 1 v 1 going, him in Spit and me in a C202. We went round and round for about 15 minutes. I slowly shot small parts of his plane off. First an aileron, then an elevator, a couple of holes in a gas tank and then some damage to his rudder.

Finally, as I hi yo-yo'd to finish him off, I got a private message from him pleading for mercy and asking for me to let him limp home.

Giving great honor to a valiant foe, I agreed and I could see that his rudder damage combined with the other flight control problems was causing him some trouble. So I flew in close to him, warning my countrymen away, asking him to let him return to base and land his kills.

My countrymen stayed away, doing him a great honor.

His wing began to drop and he was losing altitude, so I closed in and slipped my wing under his low wing, lifting it up. I carried him this way all the way to his base and down final, easing out just as he flared and landed safely, his feat in safely rtb'ing worthy of great honor

Then I did a few quick victory rolls over his field, while the AI ack gunners respectfully held their fire, doing me a great honor. So I landed, parked on the visitors ramp and Westy and I went into the O-Club bar at his base and all the players in there bought me drinks, doing me great honor.

As I preflighted my aircraft prior to departure, one of Westy's countrymen upped in a Osti and vulched me as I started engines. He explained that I was just too dangerous to let take off and I felt very honored.

I all of you honorable guys!

Please don't confuse honor and dignity with weakness.

That Tiger showed 19 tanks no honor or dignity.  It deserved none itself.

Guess it just felt right, to me, to let him go land. I am/was not confused. Just trying to show some respect and honor to a foe, and thought it was great the other Knits in TT agreed with me. Maybe, just maybe, some day that feeling might happen to you.
