Squad Sizes, and the old limits.
« on: September 13, 2005, 03:03:55 PM »
HTC,
With the huge increase in the number of subscribers, and the proliferation of squads with multiple wings, I would like to see, and I imagine quite a few others would as well, to see the squad limit changed from 32 to a higher value, or removed altogether.

Squad Highlight basically became Radio Channel Highlight; we have a variety of vox channels that we can arrange to all tune to (if we can find an empty freq); ditto for text comms;  and with some creativity in naming, we can the same name with an extra character or space listed in the roster. However, I'd think changing some values in the DB would be a good deal easier, and still allow us to use common text and vox channels that we wouldn't have to fight over, or worry about eavesdropping, moderation, filters, etc.

Anyone else interested in this concept?

Yes, the 327th has grown quite large as well. It would probably benefit us as well.

No, you wont. :furious

Seriously, a bump up to say, 48, which I think is historically accurate (yeah, I know, I hate that phrase too) would probably be sufficient to reduce some of the 2 part squads to manageable sizes, and in theory simplify parts of the DB as the number of squads overall becomes slightly less.

This seems like something that can do no real harm to anyone, and would serve perhaps a few hundred of your customers well.
If this isn't something you'd consider for that reason alone... Please do.

I'm not talking recent AH2, but since AH1 was out. I'd call going from a few hundred subscribers to a few thousand pretty dramatic, even if it is over a period of 5 or 6 years.

Aslo, considering how many were lost at the changeover, to have the numbers we have now would still seem to indicate a growth.
