Dr Ben Marble: "Go F*ck Yourself Mr. Cheney..."

Cheney thinks twice about associating criticism to John Kerry

by Jennifer Monroe

GULFPORT, MS -- (OfficialWire) -- 09/09/05 -- At a carefully staged photo-op in Gulfport, Mississippi Thursday, Vice President Dick Cheney was told to "go **** yourself" twice on live television.

During a discussion on hurricane relief efforts by the Bush administration, an off-camera citizen (later identified as Dr. Ben Marble) shouts, "Go f*ck yourself, Mr. Cheney. Go **** yourself."

The camera remained on Cheney and viewers hear scuffling in the background, but Cheney continues speaking.

A reporter for CNN asked Cheney, "Are you getting a lot of that Mr. Vice President?"

Cheney replied, "First time I’ve heard it., Must be a friend of John..., er, ah - never mind."

'Checking' the end of that statement was maybe the smartest thing he did all day.

Many in Cheney's entourage laughed-off the incident, but the fact remains that thousands of people are dead because the Bush administration spent and continue to spend U.S. taxpayer's money on an illegal war in Iraq while Americans suffer.

And I don't think it's much of a stretch to suggest that the levees could have been fortified in 2002, when the Bush administration withdrew finance for the work started by president Bill Clinton, for considerably less than the $51.8 billion Americans will now spend to begin the clean-up. The total tab for the restoration is expected to cost taxpayers more than $400 billion.

Anyway, if you're interested, Dr. Marble has posted the video of him telling-off Cheney on eBay. He has also established a website with some photographs of interest. For more information visit http://www.HurricaneKatrinaSucked.com.

Well, fantasy always reads better than reality. Why concern yourself with facts when it's more fun to make up your own version?

Corps officials: Funding levels not to blame for flooding
Quote

The chief engineer of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Lt. Gen Carl Strock, said: "I don't see that the level of funding was really a contributing factor in this case. Had this project been fully complete, it is my opinion that based on the intensity of this storm that the flooding of the business district and the French Quarter would have still taken place."

Shea Penland, director of the Pontchartrain Institute for Environmental Studies at the University of New Orleans, was surprised that the break in the levee was in a "a section that was just upgraded." "It did not have an earthen levee. It had a vertical concrete wall several feet thick."

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES:
Dr. Shea Penland has more than 20 years of experience investigating the geology, geomorphology, and shoreline processes of the Gulf of Mexico, Alaska, U.S. Pacific and Atlantic coasts, Great Lakes; Canada, and the North Sea.

The focus of his research explains the geological evolution of coastal regions since the late Wisconsin deglaciation 18,000 years ago and the role of man in modifying these landforms. In Louisiana, Dr. Penland has developed models to explain barrier island development, Mississippi River delta evolution, and future coastal conditions due to global climate change.

Currently, Dr. Penland is completing a study entitled, "Natural and Human Causes of Coastal land Loss in Louisiana: The Mississippi River Delta Plain". The goal of this study is to determine the role of geologic and vegetative processes in Louisiana's land loss problem and to develop a classification that quantifies the types and processes of land loss with emphasis on determining the role of oil and gas activities.

Since 1979, Dr. Penland has published more than 100 scientific papers, received more than 10 science awards, conducted more than 30 field trips, and chaired more than 30 scientific meeting sessions in the field of coastal geomorphology and processes.

In 1995, Dr. Penland delivered the keynote symposium lecture for the annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America Meeting in New Orleans entitled, "The Mississippi River-Control and Consequences".

I heard an interview with the guy, and apparently he was just quoting exactly what Cheney said to some guy in the Senate a few months ago for something else, I don't remember the circumstances.

There was no scuffle, he just walked off.  He said that a half hour later, some national guard guys came by his house and detained him for a few minutes, asking what his intentions were (eg, was he going to hurt anyone, etc) then let him go.

It's incredible how delusional some people are. It makes me wonder if they've always been that way or if they've become that way the last few years.

On Tuesday, Cheney, serving in his role as president of the Senate, appeared in the chamber for a photo session. A chance meeting with Sen. Patrick J. Leahy (Vt.), the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, became an argument about Cheney's ties to Halliburton Co., an international energy services corporation, and President Bush's judicial nominees. The exchange ended when Cheney offered some crass advice.

"**** yourself," said the man who is a heartbeat from the presidency.

Leahy's spokesman, David Carle, yesterday confirmed the brief but fierce exchange. "The vice president seemed to be taking personally the criticism that Senator Leahy and others have leveled against Halliburton's sole-source contracts in Iraq," Carle said.

yep. Cheney was in a photo-op in his neighborhood and the guy decided to go take a look. He wound up telling cheney to go f--- yourself, you a------. Like you said he was just repeating to Cheney what he had said to someone on the floor of the Senate. Cheney laughed it off but it made him look like a salamander anyway.

Silat you are more than welcome to stay in MY country, The United States of America where we have freedom of speech and are not hauled off to prison because we speak our mind to elected officials.

On a side note, it must really suck to have your own words used against you for the entire country to see.
