Dan is right about the Ju87.  It's a plane that was designed to fly in areas where air superiority was already achieved.  That is why they did so well in Poland and later in the Low Countries.  When the Ju87 fought in areas where the the LW didn't have air superiority the Stuka got slaughtered as was the case in the BoB.

Having said that, I've always enjoyed flying the Ju87 and quite frequently fly it to stall fight in.  It makes a great little stall fighter, albeit with rather weak guns.  Might as well be shooting spit wads at the bandit, probably do more damage than the wing mounted 7.95mm machine guns.  Wish we had the D-5 model that had the 7.95mm wing mounted machine guns replaced with 20mm cannons instead of the D-3 model, which was by far the crappiest of all the Ju87 models.

but it makes it up in its bomb load. The 1800kg bomb will take out any hanger if it hits within 20 feet, THATS impressive to me.

So you're basically saying the Stuka itselfs sucks, but the bombs do the trick :aok

So a two-man flight of two Stukas can take down the Vbase without having to setup a bombrun unlike the buff fomation has to -

Yah, but a 10k B24 formation loaded with 2k eggs can take out all 3 V-hangars in ONE pass from ANY direction, with a single egg drop from each plane...and still have 3 eggs left over in each plane:aok

i figured it out why im going for these planes....its BECAUSE ITS A CHALLENGE!!! come on with 24 sure one pass woopie doo for that but its too easy. if this game were more easy than it is then i would quit. easy games aren't fun they get boring really really fast. Now flying these under class planes gives you a challenge to do somthing very short from boring and it is realy quite fun, when you come in 88s and bomb there whole factory in 2 passes and you make it out alive. that is fun.

Shills had ju87 the last 2 tod's.  Last friday our mission was 2 take out cv and had a blast.  A form of 12 ju87's and was praying, I hope no one finds us lol.  It's useful in tod but not in the ma.  If clouds had the ability 2 actually provide cover more would fly it.

87s needed fighter protection 1940

in the late -44 battles found in Main it nothing less of suicide flying them.
My ammo last for 6 Lancasters, or one Yak3.

Only takes 2 1800kg (that's 3,600lbs!) eggs to sink a CV, and you can get to the CV from a dive from 10K and egress alive, but the problem is climbing to 10k and surviving defensive fighters.

I think he's talking about 4x 50kg(?) outer wing bombs and a centerline bomb (for 5 bombs total). But in AH it sometimes takes more than a small bomb to kill a panzr

one of the fun moments in stukas went something like this . . . med field i think, we took off, 5 of us, creeped to 12 or 13k and creeped to base and fortunately avoided interceptions.  forgot who correctly pointed out a stuka caught out in the open is dead.  they're correct.

but . . . was not the case . . . base had quite a bit of action below 5k though no one flying to the base from another one close by to pick off vulchers, attackers etc and no gv presence yet either . . .

so . . . we 5 or so went nose down and took out the fighter hangars and vh . . . BOOM.

was great fun and then had the treat of peppering away at the defenders with the pea-shooters the junkers carry.  was great, great, fun.

That was in reference to the Ju87G-1 which had 37mm Flak18 cannons pods with 6 rounds each mounted under the wings.  One hit from these guns was usually enough to kill a tank.  You really do need to work on that reading comprehension.

Thats a DANGED admirable mindset Lan784, more guys need to think that way--there would then be less La7's and spit's in the skies:aok
