Hrm... a rare transport/recon plane that had no bomb load and never went into production and (if I recall) only 2 were ever made, and neither of them saw any action.

I'm guessing....

No.

FWIW, a different manuscript listed a total of 65 of them built.. and the 290-A7 had a  3000kg bombload ( 12 of that version )

They did see service beginning in 1943 as recce over Atlantic.

Probably still a no..

What use would this plane be in AH?  Recce planes just don't fit in a MA enviroment.  Maybe in ToD they'd have a place.

Go to your room!

That's the only German bomber I've ever seen with turrets!

The only Luftwaffe heavy bomber that would be (marginally) a contender for AH inclusion IMO would be the Heinkel He 177. It was reasonably fast for a heavy and could, in theory at least, carry a 13k bombload. While it had a 20mm cannon tail gun, the other positions were only armed 7.9mm and 13mm MGs.

Another possible LW bomber would be a Ju 88S. This was a stripped down aircraft with a low drag nose and 1700hp BMW radials. It had practically no defense but it could get to  379mph. This would be a fairly easy addition once the base Ju 88A-4 gets updated.

From a scenario POV an He 111 would be a better choice than either of these, useless in the MA though.

i would like to see the ju 290, its like a german b17 and we able to do long range bombing missions in the MA with only german plans.
The ju 88 is a lidel bit short of range. but first we need the he 177
and ju 188 :-).

Frank3,

The He177 has turrets, the Ju188 has a top turret and I think the Do217 had a top turret as well.

Greebo,

I think the Ju188A-2 and Do217 would also do very well.  Personally the Ju188A-2 would probably be my bomber of coice over any other bomber in AH (unless they added the Mosquito B.Mk XVI).

I thought of the Ju 188, but it would need completely new cockpit art. At a glance it looks like the Ju 88S could get by with a reworking of the Ju 88A art.

Suprised no one's requested glide bombs yet. :)

With the Do217, the Fritz X and the other guided bomb should be a loadout option for use against CV's and other hard targets from a half sector away.
