I hope you will all make it ok through RITA.We up here in eastern Canada are lucky when it comes to weather.All we get is snow up to our eyeballs once in a while.Stay safe all of you.

This is probly the last post for me for a few a days we heading to the San Antonio tonight. Hope stat does the same this things ganna be in the 200mph range when it hits and Houston is supposed to get 100+ winds. Hope all the people in the range does the same and jsut get the hell out.:(

Good luck, guys.  My thoughts are with you; my parents lost their home in Mississippi due to Katrina, so I know the kind of devastation a hurricane brings.  Keep safe.

man oh man that storm is still hitting us here!!! winds occassionally gust to 40 mph.  be very careful our thoughts and prayers are with the gulf coast today.

bahhh stupid news. All we got was 30-40mph winds and alittle rain. Just little branches down in the yard. All those cars stuck on the freeway for nothing.:(

I hear ya TK.  we have always lived in the tropics. many years ago my dad taught us how to secure our home for hurricanes beginning with the roof truss fasteners then the windows and doors.  no home he has owned or any that his children have owned have ever been structurally damaged by hurricanes.  we have ridden all of them out.  getting on the expressways is madness unless you do it a week prior to event and most folks just can't do that.  accurately predicting landfall is all but impossible.  the local governments are caught between the sword and stone when hurricanes threaten, on the one hand you must advise evacuation on the other whether or not it hits you get egg on your face.  I'm glad you guys weren't hit
