Has any one done a P-51B/C skin of the above squad?

If some one wants to here's a scan:

I can scan some P-40s but best wait for those to get upgraded...

If there's one thing I hate, it's people who post gigantic images like the one above, which take hours to load.

Its not 'gigantic' and its thumbnail. That should be an indication of size. It was left large so the detail would show.

One thing I hate is people complain about things that are well with in the realm of control. Just don't click on it.

(sigh)  I was joking, Bruno.  You see, the thumbnail is SMALL...

(BTW, I have a 6Mbs cable broadband connection, so everything is fast).

Only problem with that one is that the profile maker went overboard on the weathering.  They did actually try and take care of the frontline combat aircraft on occasion.

This one looks like a reject from a bad training command squadron.

Someone would have to show me a photo of that bird looking that bad for real for me to buy it that way.

The image below appears to be the bird in question from the other side.  I just don't see the finish nearly as bad as the profile in the photo.

Thats a different a/c (247 GA-Q).

I will scan a b/w of the one I posted above later today. Weathering almost always falls under (more or less) 'artistic expression' especially when using b/w photos.

I have a scan of the same P-51 you posted and it doesn't have nearly as many white specs / scratches (especially aft of the sharks mouth) as the yours.

I agree that it is a bit over done in the scan I posted but its up to the skinner to decide how he wants to go. After all at some point the paint was fresh...:p

Hi Mates

I have an extensive library on WWII allied aircraft (an old hobby) and have looked up the Shark Squadron.  In Arco-Aircam Aviation series No. 3 they have some pretty good black and white pics of the shark mouth mustangs.  Their paint was pretty beat up as they operated out of make shift airfields in Italy.

The book has the picture you show above plus some others up close where you can see the "beat up" paint jobs.  The book also includes some colour layouts so you can see the paint schemes.

If you would be interested, I can scan these and send them to you.  However, for some reason, I am not allowed to post attachments in this BB.  Perhaps have not put up enough messages.  I have been in AH since Beta and WB a lot longer than that.  Whatever.

Also, No. 112 Squadron RAF flew the B and the D model Mustangs with the shark mouth.

Cheers
