Knight Ki67 mission to Bish HQ (film and screens)
« on: September 25, 2005, 03:11:50 PM »
Chris3 decided to put up a mission to Bishcuit HQ, Ki67's escorted by Ki84's.

The distance of the flight was about 200 miles (!).

Surprisngly, the mission had alot of participants, 10 bombes pilots and another 8-10 fighter pilots (I think). I say surprisngly because 1: missions aren't all that popular now a days and 2: 200 mile long missions are bound to be even less popular, specially when flown in a quite unpopular plane.

What was interesting to see is that, the Ki67's, at 20k alt where we were flying, were FAAAAAST. I knew they were gonna be fast but didn't know our Ki84's were gonna have trouble keeping up.

The escorts got their fair share of kills, inclduing Vox's kill on a 262 (bombers, not sure who, later scored another 262. The only 2 262's to engage).

The bombers too, got kills. I'd say they probarly killed as good or better then the escorts.

While we crept closer to HQ we somehow succeeded in causing a massive Bishcuit scramble from the 163 base, we knew we were gonna encounter 163's but what we saw was almost redicolus ;) (Read: totally freaking awsome).

Needless to say, what followed was a slaughter, however, quite a few 163's bit the dust aswell.

The film is from me, I stay quite passive the whole time, with a frame rate of 15-20 (when good) I had a very hard time aiming and even flying. At some times the FPS even got down to 10fps for me. (I instead decided to be the wartime-photographer of the event, something the 163's unfortunatly didn't understand) :D

I have decided to include the whole 30 minute long film, it starts when we are engaged by the first enemy fighters. We are then constantly engaged untill we are assailed by the 163's.

I do sugest a fast forward to the end action though (163) alternativly watch the 262's get shot down (first one about 7 minutes in to the film).

Some of the 163's.

Some more.

And this is the sector bar we mannaged to create.

The Film is in a self extracting Rar archive. You need ALL 3 files to be able to self extract. The self extractor is in english so everybody should understand it (I learn from my misstakes).

Great stuff Wilbus, thanks for sharing!

In my missions (Franks coop missions) we do these kinds of missions too, often leading to 200 miles or more

But dang!

That's one hell of alot of 163's!

Actually didn't think that long mission would go as fast as it did. But after the 20k climb the rest of the 150 miles or so doesn't take long at all, specially not with bombers doing more than 300mph level flight.

As for the 163's, I've never seen that many before, one hell of a defence by the bishops.

Would be nice to participate in one of yours sometime!

nice plane choice for attack :)

everyone knows the potential of destruction of KI67's lol (ridiculous, even a 2klb typhoon does better damage rofl)

a massive ar234 HQ raid could be fun, but I doubt those have enough fuel

I don't even have time to watch my own movies, I prefer fly !

I was for ever climbing ahead of the Ki67's in an A8 took about 4 sectors to pull up above then i had 3 passes..........took one lone Ki67 out on a pass then lost a wing to a Ki67 formation as I pulled over for the 3rd.

Then joined the 163 mission collecting about 3 or 4 assists and landing...........

The only time I have seen so many 163's is the AH Con when they were introduced (for the first time) as the con mission.

Was good to see this mission and in some ways the 163's were spoilers for an effort that did its participants credit...............

Ki 67 is fast.............would love to do  mass Mosquito B MXVI raid on similar lines if we ever get one.

LOL Tilt no it didn't show the route home, had we survived I guess Chris would have led us the fastest way home again :)

Btw Tilt, you didn't lose your wing to the Ki67's, you lost it to me in my Ki84 ;)

And yeah, would love an unarmed bomber Mosquito!

you are not right of the potential of destruction typhon only takes 2 bombs and the ki 8 and at 20k the ki 67 made 338 mphs and carris 800KGs, somethink like 1750lbs(not a big div to typhon) very save to a target wich is over 200miles away. the typohn will never made it ;-).

Yep,Ki67 is fast, i read the japan ussed it as bomber interceptor,  like germans the Ju88s for night hunting

I remember 2-3 years ago was a knight player  rkMAW, i think was his name, not sure,He used to bomb our HQ in KI67s, I meet him many times at HQ but we didn't have me163s that time and was hard to catch him in G10 or Ta152, But he used to nail 1-2 of the radars,  Was a skilled bomber considering the bombing was not eassy like now.
BTW, i sunk many  CVs in A234s running 400mph ,10-15k, the bombing is too precise, like laser guided at max speed
Imop, the old  sistem for HQ with 4 damage steps was much fair , Now after flying hours to HQ, a bomber pilot gets nothing even if he hits with 10-15000lbs

IMO that you need the heavier bombers in Aces High for an HQ-raid, often, the trip will be a long one (B-17/24 can do that easily) and more often, you'll be attacked by 163's, so taking a fast bomber actually doesn't do much

A slow, but better armed bomber (and carrying a heavier payload) will do much more damage, and survives longer

But fast planes would be good at high alts and at speed against Prop-planes!

I remember 2-3 years ago

at that time we didn't have to calibrate, bombing was SO easy.
I remember I was deacking fields from 20k in lancaster

BTW I agree with frank that heavier bombers do a better job with 163's around...lanc being the best with its hug playload and its over 300mph high alt speed.

but the KI67 has a climbing speed that makes the trip way faster...and a backward 20mm is so fun :)
