Do not go see this movie!!! I can't believe it but Speilberg actualy made a lame movie. This was even worse (more boring) than Peal Harbor.

I was very let down, wish Kubric would have shot this one.....

I thought it was a very good movie, and it sure looked to me like Kubric managed to have a good deal of influence on the movie, especially at the end.

What was so lame about it Udie?

I thought it was tiring at moments but all in all it was good. It should have ended at the real ending not the one 20 minutes later, those who have seen it know what im talking about so I dont wanna spoil it for the ones who havent. This movie is not ET or DARYL. In many ways its similar to blade-runner in visuals and reaches towards 2001 in some of its more significant ideas. Both Haley Joel Osment and Jude Law put in great perfomances, the Osment kid is actually annoyingly creepy in his portayal of the robot boy. I actually think some of the people who dislike this movie actually put off more by the subject matter and its implications than the actual movie. I was both uncomfortable and annoyed at times,not because the movie was bad like when watching that POS PH, but because of the things portrayed. The Flesh Fair scene is very troubling and one of the best arguments against such human "behavior" ever put to film. Go see the movie and it will be perfectly clear what im reffering to.

Overall I think its definatly worth a look, you will be surprised no matter what expectains you have of the movie.

It seemed like an adult movie that was made to be shown to kids. Which is what rubs me. SO much could have been done with the concepts in the movie (which I thought were good) All the acting was good, but Speilberg cheesed it out trying to make it a family film. I agree about the ending too

Spilberg allways throws some cheez in the mix,He`s a Hollywood director,He can`t help it.The only one He hasn`t cheezed out too much was Schindler`s list.Even that was a little watered down compared to the real story,but the reality of the holocaust is simply unimaginable to anyone who has not actually lived trough it.Even they still can`t belive it actually could happen.
I know I have a real hard time accepting that people could do such things to eachother.But I know that actually they can.

...just back from seeing it a little while ago. Lots of sniffling as people leaving the theater. (Not me) But I did like it. It didnt leave us hanging with "Gee, how'd it end". Nice begining, good story, and nice ending. I won't ruin for others, but I thought it was great.

It was a thinker. I'm kinda burned out on the flashy action/gee-whiz stuff. By my estimate, the movie was a wee on the long side, but to shorten it would have sacrficed the nice long ending.

Spielberg isthe warm fuzzy emotional guy. I don't think I've seen one movie with him where he hasn't told me something I've already known and done so in a very emotional way. His films tend to be for families.

kubrick, OTOH, is a film maker of my taste. He uses his intellect more than his heart and, unlike Spielberg who seems to go out to manifest what's already there and reinforce it, kubrick asks very uncomfortable questions.

I'm looking forward to seeing it - even iw Spielberg wussiness is in it. As long as Kubrick infuence can be seen it'll be good enough for me :9.

You should enjoy it, it does have a very dark feeling to it. Still wish Kubric had done this one while he was here. He could have done such a better job. Don't get me wrong I liked the concept of the ending. But it seemed to me he added it to make a happy ending, then he ends up making a sad ending.

I guess I'll add now that it was good in the sence that it has me thinking about the overall theme of the movie. Speilberg just watered it down I guess is my big complaint. It's kind of like going to see a porno writen by Larry Flynt, but directed and produced by Hugh Hefner.

I think that it could have ended 20 minutes before it did and been fine.

I also like the last 20 minutes. I was trying to figure out how they could avoid totally cheesing it up. Just when they had the opportunity to get super-disney-cheesy, they passed and went a little more thought provoking. I really liked that.

One thing I didn't like was the very premise of the movie. The justification for creating a robot-child was just a tad bit thin.

Overall, it was pretty good. Its not a fast movie by any means. It actually gets downright slow at times. But it does keep you guessing and is thought provoking, though not extremely deep.

I'm actually kinda glad Kubric didn't make it. I get the impression the flesh-merchants would have been an entirely different ballgame. Kubric was awesome when he was younger... and not-so when he was older. Of course, YMMV.

If it's one thing I've learned, it's that movie critics only know what THEY like!

So you didn't like the movie, I bet someone else did! With almost every movie you will find someone who loved it, and someone who loathed it.

Case in point... I liked The Phantom Menace, but hated Jar Jar after the first few minutes of him onscreen. Talked to a friend, she didn't like the movie, but thought Jar Jar was cute and the best part of the film.
