Can I ask again to bring the M-4 Sherman to Aces High?
« Reply #15 on: September 22, 2005, 12:14:56 AM »
I do think the M4 is needed, I say this because of the total lack of US tanks, the M8 is great, I use it all the time but against a tiger I'm a very fast moving duck... Now I know the M4 didn't hold up against a Tiger or a Panther, but as said above against a Pazer 4, it could hold it's own, and there the most commen tank in the MA right now, H2H it's the tiger because theres no perk limits.  I also beleave the M-26 should be brough in as a perked tank, I've seen a film of one "hunting" a Tiger though a city and that tiger was running as fast as it can, it drove through a building then got hit by that 90mm HV round and it blew! It burned for 3 days from I hear! Now thats what I want to drive!

Sherman M4A3 with a 76mm gun makes sense to add. Simply because, along with the T-34 and Pnzr IV was amongst the most widely used tanks in WW2, and it fills out the GV set nicely, since AH has no US tanks.

We certainly dont need another specialist flak vehicle.

Absolutely right.
Inserting an image of a Sherman that I witnessed in some stunt driving the other day:

It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

I say bring the M4 Sherman, and maybe a british tank, like the churchhill or if theres something better. I got this book called How Weapons work and theres some cool tanks in there from ww2.

-Russian BT7 medium tank (dont know if its ww2 doesnt say)
-Panzer Pzkfw II (though looks like a infantry support tank)
-British Matilda tank. (early war i think. Says it was good against german armor before the 88mm was introduced.)
-PzKpfw III Aust (says saw action in almost every theatre)
-Churchill Infantry Tank (was one of the most successful british tanks of ww2. Late modles mounted a 75mm gun)
-British Crusader III (used extensively in the western desert)
-Grant Mk1 (we know it sucks)
-German Hetzer (Says still in service with the Swiss Army. Remeber this book was made in the 70s, so no M1 Abrams)
-Self-Propelled version of the Panther, Jagdpanther (carried a 88mm PAK 43)
-German PzKpfw V Panther (75mm KwK42[L70])
-M26 Pershing (Late war tank)
-British Comet on a Cromwell Chassis (had a 17pdr (77mm) gun)
-3 Howitzer tanks/US M7 self-propelled howitzer (105mm M2)/Russian SU-100 self-propelled 100mm gun mounted on a T-34 chassis./SU-152 Heavy Assult gun. (152mm Howitzer.)

Thats all the ww2 tanks i found in this book.

Another Idea ( Since we have a PT boat could we have a German E-boat S38 (Carried 2 torpedos enclosed, 1 20mm cannon foward and a 40mm gun aft. Eight mines carried at the stern.)

Will thats it.

I'd say no perks on the firefly.  The gun is adequate, but the armor is inferior to the Mk. IV we have in the game.  And we could just skip the basic sherman, or perhaps provide the 105 mm howitzer version for indirect fire support and town killing.

What gun did the HVSS version (sherman jumbo) mount?

M-26 Pershing

I would rather see the M-26 Pershing.  It saw service near the end of the war and would be able to go toe to toe with tigers.
