Wireless woes
« on: September 30, 2005, 02:01:07 PM »
Greetings aces

The connection problems (link to other post)  I had with my wireless setup have mostly gone now. I switched the speed back to 2mbit and it runs fine.

Quote
My setup:

House 1
- D-Link DSL Router DSL-G604T
- computer 1 connected to router via Cat 5 cable (10m)

House 2
- D-Link DWL-2000AP+ in client mode
- comuter 2 (flying rig) connected to Access Point via Cat 5 cable (10m)

Configuration
- all standard
- g-mode (automatic speed)
- WEP 64bit key
- MAC access list
- all components with fixed IP (DCHP off)

Problem:

NOT with AH but with other online games:

With AH my connection is good (enough) and I can play as long as I want. But if I try some other online game or download stuff for that matter connection dies after a few minutes. It's not the internet connection that dies but the direct ethernet cable connection to the Access Point (see setup). That forces me to power/off - power/on the Access Point in order to make it working again. Gets tiresome and I haven't got a clue what the problem is. I already flashed to the newest firmware and tried a myriad of setups...

What I can do:
 - surf the web forever (IE or Firefox)
 - play AH2 forever

What I cannot do:
 - play DoD: Source
 - download with Azareus (bitorrent)
 - download with Steam
 - keep PC idle
--> AP dies after a few minutes - no signs in windows, no error message, normally blinking lights on the hardware --> afer power/off/on --> works again

:cry

Alright,

specifying my question:

What does AH2 make different to other online games that my AP does not tick out?
