I had never heard of it till it came up on this BB. From the rave reviews some of the fruitloops on here gave it...ones who despise TV and said this was the best show they've seen in 4ever, I checked my wallet and bought the DVD set.

Best $20 somethin bucks I've spent in a long time.

Got the wife hooked.

Brought DVD's to work and let anyone who wanted to watch the first DVD. When they wanted the second I told em to go buy it LOL. Most of em did.

Someone at FOX should be shot. NO cig, no blindfold.

Asked my wife what she wanted for our anniversary. She wants to go see Serenity and a dinner.

Went, saw it, loved it.

I have to say, this was BY FAR the largest cross section of society I have ever seen in a theater for a sci fi movie.  Everyone from grandpa to 10 year old kids was packed in there for the early movie this morning, and everyone loved it.  I always thought of Star Trek as having the biggest cross section as fans, and while they may still have the gross numbers, I think this has a better representation of every age group as fans.  Like sci fi movies?  You'll like Serenity.  Like Westerns?  You'll like Serenity, and LOVE Firefly.

I had heard of the series but never watched them. I watched Serenity Sat. and throughly enjoyed it. I just ordered the Firefly DVD's through Amazon. I hope they continue to make more Serenity movies in the future.

It was ranked number 2 this week for overall boxoffice. Will be curious how it holds up over the coming weeks with the word-of-mouth folks.

:aok Went to see it with my older son (he's 16), and we both really enjoyed.  I thought it had a great mix of action, adventure, mystery, and humor.  I'd only seen maybe 3 or 4 of the episodes, but will definitely have to go get the DVD set.  Interesting story line.

It's possible that with everyone going out and buying the DVD, that they'll make the show again.

I saw the movie and was astounded.  I had never seen a movie that was so good in my life.

There are many challenges to them making the show again.  Fox seems very disinterested, as evidenced by the fact that Universal made the film.  I read somewhere that there was some poison pill in the contract for that that almost guarentees that a show cannot be made for many years, but don't recall the specifics.

I didn't give Firefly a chance...

when it first premiered on TV. But now having seen the TV series on DVD - and the movie - I realize that I should have given it a chance when it first premiered.  I came late to the party but I am now amoungst the "Brown Coats" who are hoping that "Serenity" will have a sequel made.

I highly recommend the movie even if you never saw the series.  You just have to like Sci Fi.  If we continue to spread the word the film could become a cult classic. (so spread the word!)  :aok

Just watched it.... It was every bit as good, and maybe better, than I had hoped it would be.

Did anyone notice that the liberal socialist papers gave it the worst ratings and that they were alone and really not even that bad of reviews.

I will buy the movie when it comes out for sale.

If it helps make a new movie or possibly revive the series, so will I.

I bought the TV series DVD set after seeing the movie. I find the shows are every bit as good as the movie. Well writen dialog, good acting and fun stories. Just watched "Jaynestown" last night. Laughed my arse off at some of the parts. Oh and having three hot ladies helps the show also. :)

Yep... the series was very very good but a little different... more funny and less dark than the movie.

The movie had to work fast... allmost frantic  to tie up loose ends left over from the series..

the jaynestown story was a laugh out loud episode....

And.. the women are very nice...

getting the word out to friends and acquaintances.  It is my plan to go see it again this weekend with others who haven't seen it because afterwards I 'aim to misbehave!'  ;)

Joss Whedon has a great 'vision' for this show and it would be shame to see it die in it's infancy.
