Tex

My father died of the condition your grandfather has. I'm surprised he's been given as long to live, as pancreatic cancer is well advanced by the time of diagnosis. My dad's demise was mercifully swift, so no long degeneration. There wasn't much pain. Hope this helps.

Prayers, Blessings and Good Wishes to your Grandpa, tex.

Keep him always in your heart...that's where immortality lives.

If you can, thank him for all of us who can appreciate the sacrifices he made for us...and tell him it was a good fight!

Dear Texace,

I will be in prayer for your Grandfather. Does he have a Pastor who can visit him in hospital so that he might be ready for that final flight? If so, do let me know so that I can pray that the Lord would give his Pastor wisdom, compassion, and unction. Having done my share of hospital visits, he'll need them all.

I know that you are anxious to have him look back so that he can leave a record of all the marvelous accomplishments he was enabled to perform, but at this point he also needs people who can help him to look forward to and prepare for all that lies ahead. Truth be told that will be his greatest need right now.

Please let me know if I can be of any assistance to you, your Grandfather, or your family.

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (2 Cor. 4:16-18)

Texace,

I have no religion to turn to, but I can offer you some insightful words regarding death.

Emily Dickinson

My life closed twice before its close;
        It yet remains to see
If Immortality unveil
        A third event to me,
So huge, so hopeless to conceive,
       As these that twice befell.
Parting is all we know of heaven,
And all we need of hell.

Yes, sir, he does have a Pastor that can visit him in the hospital.

I have forgone my desire to learn his stories so that I may better help him when the time comes. I will no longer query him about his stories unless he wishes to tell me. Our family's pretty strong, but we're all a bit saddened by this development.  He's 82 and has lived a very successful life. We all know it comes to an end, so we're prepared for it, I suppose. Not much else we can do, really. Just provide our support and try and comfort him.

He's not happy like this. He always was energetic and lively. Ever since chemo started his physical condition has deteriorated. The blood clotting was just another thing added to the list of medical problems. If nothing else, he wants to go down fighting. My grandmother's a nervous wreck, but after 57 years of marriage, I don't blame her.

I haven't seen him yet, but my mom always passes on a "semper fi" for me. I've been saying that to him ever since I was old enough to know what it meant. He always did get a kick out of it.

*sigh*

Best of mojo coming to your family from Downunder, texace.
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB
