FL gun law gives leeway to peeps with carry permitsl

I haven't studied this yet.  Reportedly, it will prevent those lawsuits from paraplegics and members of decedant's families, who tried to rob armed citizens, and who were promptly stopped in thier tracks by constitutional lead poisoning,

To me, it sounds  like a reasonable piece of legislation, but I'm open to other opinions....

In a nutshell it means if someone breaks into your house and threatens your or your family you can defend yourself with lethal force and not get into trouble for doing it.

The old law says you have to retreat from the threat.

This is a very good change to the law and should have been done long ago.

The old law said you have to give the intruder a free shot at your back before you could defend yourself.  Liberal logic if ever I heard it.

Remember.. the guy you cut off is probably armed and he's not about to give you (or anybody else) a second chance to kill him."

Mickey, that poster completely misrepresents the law. The law specifically states that you have to be on your own property.

I hope the Brady group gets sued for trying to scare tourists into not going to Florida.

The democrats always misrepresent the laws. Thats why I tend to not vote for them.

actually, I may be incorrect, as I have not read the full version of the law. I just heard on the news that the law specified being on your own property.

So even the Brady campaign admits that this law will encourage people to behave more properly in public..

Gosh! Who would have thought that they ever get some common sense?

The castle doctrine just gives legal recognition that a person can not retreat any further than into his home. There is no refuge beyond it for the person who lives there so they can't be expected to flee their domain in the face of a criminal attack or threat. It has nothing to do with roads or anything else. It just means you can't be expected to retreat FROM your home and may defend yourself or family from a home invasion. In effect it says that a reasonable person would be in fear of their lives from an illegal assault while in their home.

Arizona has always been that way as far as I can recall.

I just do not understand the rational that expects a person living in a place to flee from the criminal invading it. That means the criminal has more right to it that does the person that lives there. Freaking damn DUMB concept.

How can you tell a brady supporter is lying? Just like a lawyer, their lips are moving.

Florida must be trying to make a sensible comeback from the 2000 elections.

It's a start, but...we'll keep watching.
