Rome:Total War
« on: September 06, 2005, 08:33:06 PM »
Ok, I've played Shogun, Medieval, and the mods for Medieval..

They bored me quickly after Shogun..

Is it worth venturing into R:TW?

Or is there something WWII like out there that is better?

Also,

If you liked the previous Total War games, you will love Rome :TW,
its more of the same, bigger, better and prettier than ever.

Once it gets boring, download Rome Total Realism mod and enjoy all over again.

This one isnt out yet, but it sounds like it might be the sort of thing you are looking for, personally, I cant wait.

Oh, by the way, there's an official expansion due out late september for RTW.

It's set in Rome's "Christian Stage" timeframe.  So far from the demo, it looks incredible.

Liked shogun, loved Medieval, and just can't get into rome.

Changed the interface too much or something.

Its pretty, but it just leaves me flat after an half hour. Medieval can still grab me at least once a week for a 3 hour session.

Big download, read the instructions, is a full uninstall/reinstall/patch/apply REALLY necessary or just a precaution?

Anyone play Barbarian Invasion yet? Just picked it up yesterday and it's pretty good.

One question I've always had: Is there a way to prevent squalor from building up other than building baths and such? That's one of my biggest problems.

Well, squalor comes from the amount of people compared to the city type / size.  So anytime you're about due for an upgrade, you're going to get squalor.

So your two choices are to upgrade soon, or keep the population down.
