Bring all cockpits up to 190 Standard
« on: October 01, 2005, 07:07:04 AM »
Please :)

I know some planes have been remade already, such as the P51 but even the P51 cockpit is not up to the Fw190 standard.

The 190 cockpits really are those that gives you the best immersion and realistic feeling. While some planes such as the P51's have been updated someone forgot to modell every bar in the canopy (and other things) to 3D.

Fw 190 cockpits is what should set the standard.

Hi Wilbuz, how are you today?  When are you going to send some blonde Swedish hotties my way? :D
I am not ashamed to confess that I am ignorant of what I do not know.

Will never happen furball.

While Wilbuz might share a kill now & then he keeps all the girls strickly to himself.

BTW Wilbuz keep that little black book up to date. You could probably sell it on ebay in a year or so for a healthy sum.!

Wilbuz, I'm not entirely convinced the 190s have 3D cockpit frames. Rather, I think the person that did the cockpit textured the interior skin to LOOK like 3d on a 2D surface. Try as I might, move the head position around, zoom in and out, I can't see any depth on them. I think it's a trick of the texturing.

Just did Krusty, both from inside and outside and all the bars in the front of the 190 (pretty much all there are part from the top one) are 3D.

I'm sure HTC is working their bellybutton off with remodelling, but you cannot just demand that they remodell all cockpits immediately

I bet one cockpit takes alot of time to make

Yes Yes Frank I know and I don't demand anything :)

But like I said, even the planes remodelled before the 190's aren't up to 190 standard IMO.

I think every plane will get better as HTC remodels them.  Planes like the KI84 could use some updated cockpit skinning though, the bars in that are definately the worst of all the new models.  But again, this is probably because it was the first of the new models to come out.

On the contrary, I vote for redoing the 190 cockpit frames to match the P51s.  The 190's frames yield an unduely restrictive view.  I used to use the 190A a lot, and no longer do.

Just my opinion.  :-)

(BTW, please don't make gameplay suggestions; I am familiar with the various methods for looking around canopy bars in AH).

Im sure it's just a matter of time, everything probably gets remodelled, HTC seems to get the hang of it!

Of course everything gets remodelled. That is not what I am asking for. What I would like to see is that the planes that get remodelled are done so after the 190 standards.

The P47's and P51's were remodelled AFTER the 190's were yet they don't have as good looking cockpits. The P51 still have 2D bars.

And yes the 190 bars are in the way but they also give you a far better immersion IMO :)

Wilbus,

Immersion for screen shots, maybe.  But not immersion for dogfighting.  Makes deflection shooting (which is already difficult as it should be) almost impossible from certain angles.

The problem with using actual thicknesses for cockpit canopies in AH is the "fisheye lens" effect they use to compensate for the small size of the computer screen.  This effect gives us a more realistic field of view, but it also magnifies canopy bars in proportion.  I always felt that the 2-D canopy bars in most current planes was a reasonable workaround for this visibility issue.  I was greatly relieved when the new 51s returned to the 2D bars, hoping this was intentional.

Rgr you may be right, and the deflection shooting is far more difficult in 190's now then in pretty much any other plane. Possibly the worst forward view in AH now.

But I still like the immersion, only plane that feels more like a plane IMO thanks to cockpits. 109's are nice aswell.
