Cream ReUnited

Oh my.....I just found at last week that Cream had reunited for a series of shows at Royal Albert Hall back in May of this year.  Guess I was too busy doing whatever the hell it is that I do to hear about this one......

The Good news is Cream is scheduled to perform three nights at Madison Square Garden on the 24th, 25th and 26th of this month of rOctober.  The bad news is Im on the other side of the country and cant be there to enjoy the show......I guess tix are selling for $1500 a pair on eBay.

Jack Bruce was a major influence on my bass playing so much so that my first bass was a heavily (ab)used Gibson EB0 short scale, SG style bass.  For some odd reason I sold it when I was still in high school to buy a Rickenbacker 4001.

Check this website out, then go to the "Store" tab and find the DVD slection and select the streaming video of Cream playing "White Room" at the RAH back in May of this year.

I am very pleased to see these old guys playing and sounding so well, having survived the 60s was a major accomplishment in its own right.

In the white room with black curtains near the station.
Blackroof country, no gold pavements, tired starlings.
Silver horses ran down moonbeams in your dark eyes.
Dawnlight smiles on you leaving, my contentment.

I’ll wait in this place where the sun never shines;
Wait in this place where the shadows run from themselves.

You said no strings could secure you at the station.
Platform ticket, restless diesels, goodbye windows.
I walked into such a sad time at the station.
As I walked out, felt my own need just beginning.

I’ll wait in the queue when the trains come back;
Lie with you where the shadows run from themselves.

At the party she was kindness in the hard crowd.
Consolation for the old wound now forgotten.
Yellow tigers crouched in jungles in her dark eyes.
She’s just dressing, goodbye windows, tired starlings.

I’ll sleep in this place with the lonely crowd;
Lie in the dark where the shadows run from themselves.

Oh, the band.

I thought this was about a money shot played in reverse.
