There was never a doubt that the citizenry would divide on this issue. This is the USA, after all. Check the news from Berkley and Cambridge; the same gardens are growing the same crops that they did in the 60's and early 70's.

The difference is that this time the enemy is here among us.

Instead of watching newsreels from 10,000 miles away, the smoke, fire and stench of death will be in their own neighboorhoods eventually. You know they're talking about the smell in New York right now. You think that's from flowers? Or is it from 6000 decaying bodies?

This is the beginning, not the end. Get used to the Berkley crowd. They'll be there every step of the way until we win. When we do, they'll then be the ones feeling morally superior for not participating.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

By "emergency personnel" I take it you mean he wants to be a medic on ships.  If that's the case, let me help you clue him in on one thing the recruiters might fail to mention.  Only a small percentage of Navy hospital corpsman actually go to ships.  Where do the rest go???  Marine Corps infantry units.   ;)

No, I mean Damage Control and boarding personnel. Hell of a tough job, too.
