Torpedo toting Bostons & A20's
« on: October 03, 2005, 01:32:08 PM »
Russia who recieved more A20/Bostons than any other nation used them (various A20 types) extensively as torpedo planes (as well as light  bombers)

However the Standard Russian aircraft born torp seems to have held  200Kg of explosive albeit rated at 39 knots at a range of 4000 yards. (total weight 2060llbs)

The Boston  MkIIIA or the A20C was rated to carry a 2000lb torp presumably the same one loaded in the TBM?

Deliveries of the A20C were split between GB and USSR but some were retained by the US after Pearl.

A20G saw most action with the VVS in both torpedo and bomber/attack role.

Anybody know any more?

Should AH have modelled a torp for the Boston & A20G

Works for me!

I'd love to see a torp option for the A20.

Even more so for the Bostons since you get formation option = x 3 chances.

Well, one chance, three thuds.
With the Junkers, you get one or two chances, three or six thuds. :D

Yess Straffo, please do!
The Boston with torp would be a nice and easy option, easily doable for HTC. Maybe post it in the Wishlist??
It would definately see more use afterwards.

BTW, do we have a Russian skin for the Boston yet?
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)
