Hell it's the very least to consider her a hero for what she did. It was real.
I can imagine. Story go soemthing like this?
Old man splits for parts unknown. No income.
Donates blood for money twicea a week so as to put food on the table while She goes back to school to brush up on her steno and secretary skills.
Gets a mediocre job with mediocre pay but a decent healthcare plan.
Which came in handy when her son while pitching managed to catch a line drive baseball with his mouth.
dispite best efforts. Lack of child support causes mortgage company to forclose.
End up 3 people in a 1 bedroom apt. Herself, One little girl age 5, 1 Boy age 13.
Bills get paid. food ges put on the table. Good food too. the clothes on our backs may not have always been name brand but they were quality. Manages to find every bargain and sale to save even a few pennies at a time Even manages to scrimp and save put money away for a rainy day
I swear if my mother were put in charge of this countries finances she'd find a way to reduce the national dept to zero and have us showing a surplus inside 5 years
I wish I was one millionth as good with money as she is.
When I look back at it now I am awestruck. How the hell did she do it all on just her sole income without going into debt? Secretaries that work for the state just dont make that much. But she only after my sister moved out got a credit card. And then only so that she didnt have to carry cash on her.
Eventually she got paid back. The law caught up with the old man several years after I was married and gave him the option of paying the money back or going to jail.
He paid. But how the hell did she doing when it wasnt there?
