Game Freeze while using radio
« on: October 09, 2005, 10:50:15 PM »
Occasionally, when I go to key the mic and use the radio, my game will freeze for anywhere from 4 to 8 seconds.  Only started with 2.05x.  It maintains my inputs so if I am banking left or right, when it finally comes back I am usually inverted or have just about a half second to see the blades of grass hit my canopy.  This happens many times during a sitting at irregular intervals.

make sure you have your hardwear acceleration turned down to 3/4....not full...this can sometimes cause screen freezes
to get there go....Start/Control panel/Sounds, Speech, and Audio devices/Sounds and Audio devices/click on the "Audio" tab then where it says "Sound Playback" click on the "Advanced" button. then click the performance tab and you're there:aok

If you are using an nvidia video card roll back the driver to version 61.77, saw this in another thread and it worked flawlessly for me

The 61.77 driver should be used for any NVidia card from the FX5xxx series and back.  The freezes/pauses should not be an issue with newer drivers on the FX6xxx series and later.

Also, if you have 512MB of RAM or less in your computer, consider disabling the terrain optimizations, or turning down the maximum texture size to 256.

I had a complete freeze problem due to VOX and resolved it by clicking "Use Wave In" under the Voice settings in AH.

Actually, I meant to make sure it is checked. :D

For those who don't know, when "Wave In" is checked, Windows handles VOX instead of AH. So if AHvoice is causing an error, using Windows can fix it. If your sound card is kinda fudgy with Windows, Wave In is a bad thing.

The downside to Wave In is that it causes a small studder after each of your transmissions.
