Thanks for the heads-up!  :)

I actually paid the small fee for the beta cd just last week but it has yet to arrive. This is much easier anyway.

I heard good and bad thigns about this online game. One is the grpahics and all are phantastic; second is the gameplay sucks. Kind of like Multiplayer Battle Tech where there is no persistant "world" per say but a series of "rooms" where you meet and race people. That's going to get kind of old in a hurry.

I'm a beta tester for MCO   :D
I use frenchy there too, feel free to contact me.

Here so begining tips I sent to my squadies:

It's still in beta but personaly I have little bugs. The server is now stable, you should not get disconected every 10 min. You cannot play/practice offline, server hours are 1pm>1am Eastern.
You have the choice with 4 57s cars as a starter car, I strongly suggest that you take the BelAir, not the Nomad, ranchero or whatever the over one is. It's the beta so few cars are available (about 20) but all the parts are.
First modifs you can put the muffler off and the air cleaner off to gain some little HP then buy 4 225 tires instead of the stock 190s.
Buy whatever engine you wish or upgrade the stock one. Races can have limitations (300, 400, 500... unlimited HPs), sometimes it's better to make a great 299HP and race the 300HP cathegory rather than trying to have as many HP you can buy and end up at 420HP and race with big kids in the 500 cathegory.

3 types of racing, Pink/Sponsored and cash.
- Never race for Pink as the winer keeps everybody else's car (uh oh). You are never safe from a bad warp who throws you in the wall when nobody is around you, I don't advise it.
- Sponsored, is when you don't pay to race, you don't race your car but a choice of high perf ones (Cobra, 73 T/A "500HP", a corvette...). If you win you make some cash, the good part is that you don't pay the repairs for the car, the bad part is that you make little money (about $400).
- then you can race for Cash, entries fees are to be set by racers. Let's say $1000. You race, the winer keeps everybody else's $1000 and the loosers have to repair their cars from the race damages.
The comunauty is not great so far, not really helpfull peoples, more all age racing punks, but I guess it's normal.
For now I saved all my money ($36,000) to buy a Charger for ($96,000). it's 260HP only stock, but I will put this engine away and buy a BB (Big Block) intead, maybe a 400, I don't know yet. I will probably my a road car for the 400 HP limit.
If you want to drag race, buy parts to increase torque and I suggest a 3 Speed transmission. If you want a road car, get a 5 speed auto trany and go for the HPs parts.
I use the Name Frenchy, I will see you there maybe.

MCO looks great graphics wise. But I'm finding every time I race there's no one in the race but myself.  I don't get it.  Are we all racing solo on our own front ends for "best time" ?
I've only been in 4 races over the past week so I'm still at Level one. Do you have to get to a higher level to actually race next to others?

I'm finding it really hard to actually connect to a server (and I know it isn't up 24/7  ;)). I'm either not getting past the 'select persona' screen or 'session is invalid' error message.

Maybe it's because I'm in Europe, although I'm on a cable modem.

Anyone else having any problems?

That generally means the server is down... (check the site for a schedule), or maybe that it is full.

When you go into racing, don't go to sponsored trials - I'd recommend starting in circuit racing on the gearborn tri-oval in sponsored cars - just find a race that is open, and jump in.  Street racing can be frustrating until you've gotten the hang of how the game handles.

My handle in there is Kratzer, so if you see me around, drop me a message and we'll have a race!
