Oh that's nothing! Before the war they flew one biplane close to another, and one guy GOT OUT and CARRIED a gas can to the other airplane. I kid you not. They tried lots of wacky (and stupid) ways of refueling in the air

not that stupid, one plane stayed in the air for a month using the bucket method.
