Rebirthing. Sounds more like something to appease the adoptive mom then to affect the child in any way.(other to in the least disturb them and at the most...

Am I missing something. What effect where they waiting for to release her? A placenta?
What is the "normal" progression of this "therapy"?
We will torture your adopted child so they forget they were born to someone else?

Why not torture them to convince them they are Gandalf the Grey. Seems about as reasonable.
