Anyone see "The Final Countdown" ? F-14s vs Zeros?
« on: April 06, 2001, 02:42:00 PM »
I love this movie and I just can't get it on DVD or tape.  TBS has been playing this about every 5 to 6 weeks.

If you havent heard of it, the USS Nimitz (this film was made in the early 80s) gets into a freaky electrical storm and is hauled back in time for Dec 6, 1944.  With the firepower they have, they can change the course of history.  I'll leave the rest untold, so you can see it for yourself.  But, I will tell you that the F-14s on patrol intercept 2 Zeros.  One meets the 20mm cannon while the other is introduced to a AIM-9M Sidewinder

Now Superfly....if a giant Squid can appear near A18 in last months map, any chance we can have an A-6/A-7/F-14 totting super carrier appear, for the right amount of perkpoints? hehe, oh and only for Knights of course

[edit]That's a pretty good movie. If those had been N1K2s instead of Zeros, those F-14s would have been dead

I agree... WOULDNT have been dead    Tomcats had the advantage and saw them first...and I'd love to see a Nik out turn a Sidewinder

I think a better question might be "Who still owns and listens to a copy of the album 'The Final Countdown' by Europe?"

So fess up...

Not to hijack your thread...  the nikis would have wasted the tomcats, AND the Nimitz.

1.  got the cd, mp3 and sheet music to it (played it on keyboards a few times    )

2.  Have you seen the gattling guns and other aircraft carrier defenses on a modern carrier?  Yer outta your mind!

Oops! Typo, still on first cup of coffee

Let me try again:
That's a pretty good movie. If those had been N1K2s instead of Zeros, those F-14s                    would have been dead meat.

And Kratz is right, the Nimitz would be in serious jeopardy too.

One of those Tomcats nearly lost control while he was dogfighting the Zekes--watch closely.

I think that's a reference to your owning the Europe album "The Final Countdown"
