Stall limiter

Just curious as to who enables stall limiter in here and who dosent.
I know it is better to turn it off for dog fighting reasons, but getting the hang of it with out eating the trees is hard.
Any tips?

don't use it. turn it off. it will be sucky until you get used to hit. takes about a month to get the hang of it. Once you do you will be much better.

Like Mega already said: 'Eat trees' for a few weeks. I know it sounds hard, but thats the only way to get to know the 'Edge' of the stall, the line that says 'no further'. By going beyond it. Last night i fought some duels in TA, *all* of wich ended up with me counting the fish swimming by my cockpit cause i lost control and ended in a flat tailspin. Cause i pushed it too hard.

In 2 months from now you can turn the SL back on and you will *shudder* at the slow and hampered reactions from your plane!


PS: Ive never used the SL. Kind of learned to walk without the sticks from the get go.

its terrible. i decided to fly with it on in the TA last week. damn!!!. it took my plane about a second to react to my stick inputs, and the thing WOULD'NT turn.

leave the thing off, and just practise

it'll take you a day max to start flying right again, and like the others said, maybe a month, and by then, you will be able to fly the plane right on the edge, not over or under

Never used it personally.  Probably should just to find out how much it cripples the oposition.  Sometimes it feels like the other guy has to be using it due the ease in which I kill him.

the stall limeter is for the airquakers that show up and have no idea about or respect for flying,  its basicly "fly by wire"  turn it off!!!!!

The trick to doing it is not to listen to the horn, but to feel your plane as it approaches the envelope.

Almost all planes react differently at the envelope, so practice is required for each seperate one.

Flying with stall limiter on is like trying to be the bait on the hook without hook. Your much easier to kill and you cant pull your nose in to shoot the others.

I don't use SL.  It's good at first when you are getting used to things, but in most cases should be discarded as quickly as possible.  In my experience it actually causes a deteriation in my ability to know what is going on with my chosen aircraft.  I am not sawing "feel" because there is no real "feal" in this game, but there is input (your controllers) and ouput (the visual representations on the screen).  So, even though I stall and get into bad flight situations at time because I don't use it, I prefer that to the alternative.

HOWEVER...

All this said, I know people that have been flying in here for years and they still use is and have great success.  In their eyes it allows them one less thing to worry about in a fight.  They have learned what they can and can't do so the use of SL is not an issue to them.

I think the key comes down to knowing your chosen ride making the most of it's performance, SL or no SL.  I have heard people say that the stick that doesn't use SL can regularly beat the one that does.  I have not found this to be true (from my obeservations).  The stick that knows his ride best, the other stick's ride at least as good as them and has better SA tends to be the real determiners of who comes out of the fight still in control of his aircraft.

I'd recommend not using it, but if you are comfortable with it and are successful and are not able improve your performance without it, then use it and really learn your ride's performance with it enabled.  Ultimately it is about how much you enjoy the game.

Unless those equal skill levels are so low that the guy without stall limiter enabled spins it into the ground every time.
