New system is great.  I remember when I got mine and couldn't believe how much of an improvement it was.  Enjoy!

nice system, surprised you didn't go the SATA II - ( 3 GB sec ) route though, still you having it built or buying individual pieces and building yourself?
"When one considers just what they should say to a new pilot who is logging in Aces High, the mind becomes confused in the complex maze of info it is necessary for the new player to know. All of it is important; most of it vital; and all of it just too much for one brain to absorb in 1-2 lessons" TC

Want to tell us how much that cost?

Also, what kind of monitor are you going to be using?

Eagl....

Cost was 3725.00. Base it was 2999.00. I made a few upgrades and a ruch and over night. They called today and it probably wont be in til next week. So I will get a bit off that price. Prolly about 100.00.

Monitor I'll be using will be a Samsung 930B 19 inch LCD. I have a 21 inch NEC Multisync. If the Flat screen doesnt work so wiell Ill pull out the 21" and use it.

Uhh.. XP Home and MS Works.. I'd go for XP Pro and OpenOffice 2.0 which actually have some functinality.

Uhh.. Nvidia SLI, the most expensive generally non-functioning marketing ploy known to man. SLI is not supported on many games at all, one of them AH2. One 7800 is enough for any modern game - if you want to waste money just for the sake of wasting it get ATI Crossfire which works on all games.

No separate soundcard - so you'll be probably using AC97 and taking 10-15% hit in CPU cycles while saving $50.

Uhh.. raid 0 with no backup.. recipe for a disaster. You're more than doubling your chances of losing all your data unless you take a full backup frequently.

Ok your system both rocks and sucks in several ways. I'd save a load of bucks and change the setup though. You're paying for basically nothing.

I did get a separte sound card. Audigy 2 ZS Platinum.

SLI will be coming in the future:) So ill be ahead.

Backups of the raid drives? ALL that will be there is a game or 2 or 3. No work is done on this puter. IT IS strictly a toy. Wifes puter is where any work is done.

Overkill? Yes More than I probably should have bought? Yes

But after going through the last 2 years of taking care of my Mom who died of cancer , I owe my self a BIG gift and this is it.;)
