GVs the wrong size??
« on: October 19, 2005, 03:10:23 PM »
No wonder they're so hard to hit!

That tank is about 6 feet tall. I think they're all scaled wrong (which makes them a royal pain to hit when trying to kill them) -- if anything they should be 50% larger as a whole.

...and You call this as a  problem?;)
I think, this issue  is only  one of those little bits of approaching reality.

On the other hand:

The size doesnt matter...:-)
So far as I have get this game, i have not met the problem of over/undersized tanks...

Instead, I have suffered lots of stupid deaths concearning to ......nothing.

The crash/destroy-modeling of GVīs is weird...really weird.
You can kill a M3 by throwing a little bang somewhere around....
But killing a Tiger with even zillions of pounds of bombs is hard sometimes... and...sometimes itīs a piece of cake with one 500lbs bomb. Its not the question of accuracy...its the question of weird GV-crash modeling.

I have lots of films showing the Tiger staying and lying  in a "bombhole" and surviving app. 20-30 000 lbs pounding by 10-15 attackers alive...

In my opinion, that would not..and would have never happen IRL...

So...HTC...Stop the modeling of that big BS in different arenas. Stop that stupid perking and give those "superthings" a fixed value of perks!!!

"If ya dont have perks enough for your dreamride...be humble and earn them!!!"

That should be the motto for this game.

This is my suggestion for proper and fixed perk values:

Tiger: 50 perks
Me262: 100 perks
La-7: 20 perks
109G-10: 20 perks
Tempest: 20 perks
B-24: 20 perks

:D

Sounds good? eh...:rofl:D :rofl

Well AH is a flight sim, not a GV sim. The fact that the model has been jury rigged to simulate GVs doesn't mean there are GVs in AH, just means there are "funny flying planes" in AH.

For planes trying to kill tanks it is VERY hard. They are so small and even zoomed in I usually get to 400d or closer before I can even open fire, by which time I can only fire 0.25 seconds' burst before I have to pull up (if I can pull up) before impact! If the tanks were realistically scaled I might actually have a chance at hitting them with guns or *gasp* rockets!

hard to tell from pic angle, and the view, but a 110 was around 11 feet high, and the t-34 I think was around 8 to 9 feet high

I run 1024 res.. and I have it set to 2xFSAA but it doesn't come through in AH (not sure why). That image is cropped.

Where are your 'level of detail' 'displayed oblect size' and 'ground detail range' sliders at?

When i was still playing on my note book i had set them (closely) to max performance. I only saw GVs at d300 (if at all), same for the filed guns. Flying attack sorties was more or less impossible, as was deacking a field.

The first week on my new PC (sliders 1/3 from max detail setting i kept augering and crashing into things cause i just stared at all the stuff i could suddely see, so mesmerized i didnt watch where i was flying....

One more question, Krusty....

What kinda computer You got?
-processor?
-RAM?
-Video card?

and, please, check your settings in AH II:

-resolution
-detail settings
-full range visibility

etc, etc...

I dont think, those tanks are hard to hit. Itīs only the question of training and experience.

wbw,

Zuum

P.S.   btw, the height of that T-34 tank modeled in AH is in real life less than  2400 mm(8 ft in U.S. measures)

Please see here:

It doesn't matter what my settings are. The screenshot clearly shows the size difference between the two objects. That's independent of my settings and my system.

The 110 in AH is either 2x as tall as it ought to be or the T24 is 1/2 as tall as it ought to be. Since the planes have all been in AH MUCH longer than the T34, and taking into consideration AH is a FLIGHT sim, with a few "funny planes" (GVs) thrown in. I'm guessing it's the tank that is too small.

Zuum... You don't understand my point. Compared to the bf110, the T34 in AH is about the size of my mother's Toyota. Tanks are large behemoth things, in real life. The hull of the tank (the main body) should be about as high as a person is. Then the turret itself adds several more feet of height. It looks like the T34 in AH is modeled as a toy, about 6 feet tall total, it should be 50% larger.

By making it a smaller object, it is harder to hit, and requires a closer distance before one can reliably aim at it.

The picture of the real Bf110 is a comparison for the size of a human being near the plane. Compare that to the screenshot with the tank, and the human is as tall as AH's tank is! That's messed up.

HT I'll take your word for that, but in most photos I've seen with people around the nose of a 110 it seems they're on a different scale than the T34 is.

The 110 in the screenshot looks significantly closer to the camera than the T-34.

Nope.. the nose of the 110 is pointed directly at the middle of the turret.. I used top down view to manuver and straight side view to take the screenshot. They're literally on top of each other. If I get any closer I'll crash.
