Add few thousand bucks to the final price, because theres going to be some maintenance to do.... which is probably why the plane is for sale.

OK, i'll take the A-1D with 2 miniguns, 4 MK82s, 2 BLU-49s, 2 CBU-52s, and a load of 20mm.

CAn't understand why they would mate a Yak-9 with a merlin.

I  once read an operating cost of $700+ an hour for a C-47.  Something to think about.

On an unrelated note, I recently read a tower communication about the tower advising that there was a VFR 757 doing touch & goes in the pattern at an airport.  There's something you don't see every day.

Just 1.7 mil for a Bearcat!  We could all pitch in and take turns on the weekend.

I wonder how one goes about acquiring a type rating for a single seater

Once knew a guy who built and flew a 3/4 scale P51d.  It had a Chevy V-8 in it.  It was very unstable and in fact, killed him.  Never asked him about a single seater rating but you raise a very interesting question.

Not sure what the actual cost to operate one is, but there's a local guy here running 2 of them to haul freight.  Imagine that.  A cargo plane being used to haul cargo.

They're still used a lot around the world, and have even been converted to Turboprops.  The Turboprop versions work out of high altitudes down in South America.

Amazing plane.

In the past you would be issued an LOA but those are/were being done away with for "experimental type ratings".  I'd imagine the same procedures for being given an LOA.  Someone blesses you after a fee and lunch ;)
