carpal tunnel syndrome
« on: October 26, 2005, 07:12:49 PM »
As of late I think my late night gaming is starting to cacth up to me.  Well mostly in my right hand.  I find my hands hang naturally closed as of late.  To  make matters worse I was changing out some det lines in an av-bay of an F16 recently (very tiny space filled with wire bundles and boxes) and while having to do some very tedeious work I found my right hand cramping up after very little effort was made.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Ive been having that for some time. Ive also learned some basic excercises from martial arts a while back that help. I dont have any pics right now, but basically push your hand backwards with your other hand (palm facing outward, from the fingers), and vice versa, also pushing with your palm facing inwards. You do this a few times for about 5 secs each time, several times a day. I still do this even when I feel no pain (more like a habit now).
It's basically like stretching before a workout, and helps a lot with any pain.
Hope it helps!

Guns, you really know it is from beating off every five minutes!

Seriously though, had the same problem from bucking to many rivets, and am scheduled this spring (can not fug up ski season) to get surgery to repair the damage.

Glucosamine is your friend. Use it for 30 days, then report back. If you still have the same pain after 30 days, then surgery IS required.

If you've not used Glucosamine, then you're missing out on pain relief. I've had surgery on my right shoulder, and arthritis on my left. My my doc turned me onto Glucosamine, I could weight lift again. I'm 45  years old.

I can tell when I miss my glucosamine for a week or so. I wake up with back pain and those well know things that go along with it. Some of you older guys with lower back injuries can attest to what the bathroom is like in the morning. Or trying to bend down and pick up your shoes, or even sitting down and tying them.

But, a few days of glucosamine and I wake up pain free and flexable. I also combine this with liquid vitimans that I get from COSTCO. Liquid vitimans are available faster to your system than the solids and easier on your stomach.

Some joint and muscle pain is your no longer teenage body telling you that its defecient on minerals and vitimans and real animal protein and animal fats. Even in your 20's your body is not as effecient at processing essential nutrients from food as when you were a teen.

Also if you drink like I think a few AH'ers do, alcohal will end up stripping your body rapidly of essential nutrients. One sign is joint pain, another is muscle achs. Another sign of drinking striping you of micro nutirents is your teeth hurting or bleeding of the gums.

But, see your doctor and all of those disclaimers. Just be carefull out there, doctors accidentaly kill more of us americans each year than gun fatalities in all catigories................... .........:O

so is glucosamine a prescription item or can I get it at a GNC or something.

Buster I think you nailed my lifestyle to a "t".  Even with as athletic as I am some mornings I feel like I'm twice my age.

Natural substance sold at any GNC, grocery store health food section, etc. Its the natural alternative to liver/kidney-killing perscription and over the counter medications.
