Knox gelatin is actually sold as a supplement, they box even says so.  It's right next to the "regular" gelatin at the local Safeway.

Try some of this, it won't cure things totally, but by reducing the friction involved it will relieve the tension on the wrist:

Rip is quite right. I am missing about 1.5 inches of ulna bone (goes from the thump to the elbow) of the right forearm at the elbow joint. Dislocated the elbow and tore most of the ligaments out of the elbow joint. Removing the shattered radius was all that could be done as it was in to many pieces to be put back together. Scar tissue replaced the bone. Also fractured the ulna about 3 inches back from the thumb. (don't ask it is to embarrassing) this is a 27 year old injury that still gives me a lot of pain. I fell on it again about 5 years ago and separated the elbow socket (it didn't come all the way apart) hurt like hell!

Glucosamine has really helped reduce the pain in the elbow joint to a point where I can actually do some therapy weight training without suffering for days afterwards.

also, those chinese iron balls for excersize help your hand by helping circulation, and dexterity. while watching TV or something use them in each hand for 20 min or so.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by compression of the median nerve in the wrist. It’s not a joint problem and there’s no valid evidence that joint supplements such as glucosamine are beneficial.

Weight loss (if you’re overweight) and occupational therapy (splinting, exercise, stretching) can help.

And like Rip, I am a board-certified internet physician, licensed to diagnose and treat patients via bulletin board. Although my specialty is breast examinations, I occasionally dabble in surgery of the hand and wrist.

I had a case about 5 years ago.  Completely gaming related.  Stopped playing like a fiend and I'm as good as new.  I'd lay off the junk for a bit before I thought of drugs or surgery.

ummm..some joint supplements have been proven to be quite good with carpal..vitamin B6 (pyridoxine)  under testing for the past 30 years.. seems to work on swelling and pains.

ummm.... by "valid evidence" I was referring to controlled studies published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Not "valid evidence" as in what the teenager at the health food store said.

Sorry for the confusion.

I had the surgery a few years ago and I haven't had any problems since.

My right hand was getting to where I couldn't even hold on to a pencil without having severe cramps. My 3 fingers on the pinky side felt like they were stuffed with cotton so they wouldn't bend much.

The surgery was mostly painless and I was back to work in a few weeks. (They wanted me off for 6 weeks but I was back after 2)
I have been reborn a new man!

Notice I never said a better man.
