Almost done w/ Halloween costume
« on: October 29, 2005, 04:04:31 PM »
I've been logging my slow construction of my Halloween costume, thought some of you might find it interesting.  Check out the current shots, it's almost done.

Almost there, stay on target...  For some reason, an inline pic isn't working today...

Please tell me the missile batteries are functional.

Cool.
Questions:

How much does it weigh?
Can you run and jump in it?
What does APU stand for and what show/game is it from?
At first glance I saw your fake legs before your real ones, even so, are you going to make any attempt to camo your real legs?
Is there a link from your real legs to the robo ones to make them walk when you do?

It weighs a lot, but the weight is pretty well distributed because of the army frame backpack.
I might be able to managed a brief, brisk walk, but not too much more than that.  It is, after all, unpowered.
Greetings, Starfighter.  The APU is from the 2nd and 3rd Matrix movies, and is the main defense of Zion against Agent Smith and the Kodan Armada.
My real legs will be in decorated green pants that will hopefully look like part of the costume, plus a mod I made yesterday extends the frame of the robot costume down almost to my knees, so it should reduce the visual signature of my legs.
My feet are linked to the robot feet, and the legs are fully articulated.  When I walk, it walks.

Read my page, it's ever so witty, and answers these and more.

Ok guys, it's zero hour.  I'm basically done with the chickmagnet costume of mine.  I walked a couple hundred feet in it today.  Pretty rough, but better than...  better than...  well, it seems better than last years super heavy costume.

Check out the current status, I've got some picks of the fully detailed engine area with hydraulic lines.  Once I get a better camera near this thing, I'll post 'em.

Happy Halloween!

I didn't so much finish it as "stop working on it", but I am satisfied.

Or, as my wife might say, "that'll do, pig."
