Question

Which plane/planes slow down the fastest and how is the greatest loss of E accomplished?  I know the F4U'sand 109's slow down good but I'm no expert on the planeset.  The 190A-8 is slows well too!   Wait...... the question is for planes that are undamaged and are purposely being slowed down.

Correct-o-mundo on the F4U's. They'll drop gear at higher speed than most AC. Combine that with chopping throttle, dropping flps and sideslipping (opposite rudder) and you'll bleed speed instantly. As for the German planes; don't fly em much but the FW's lose E quickly.

Skyrock and max,

Netaces has a very old chart on 0 Throttle Deceleration. The F4U is actually the slowest to slow down, I'm sure because of it's mass. But the chart doesn't include the F4U's tricks like landing gear designed to act as dive brakes. The chart is just simple throttle chops.

Nor does it include loss of "E" due to pulling high G's.

The Spit and Yak slow the fastest.

You can dump E in the P-38 amazingly fast if you know how.  It's great to dump your E and saddle up on the bandit as he tries to force you to over shoot and instead sees you 200yds off his 6 and staying there.

funny out of all the planes mentioned, the jug has yet to be said. to me there's nothing else that burns the E faster. this can be a very good thing, but it also can be death waiting to happen.
