I had plans to go twice and both times for one reason or another they fell through.  Would like to go someday.  Probably not anytime soon though.  :(

lol...rgr would be pretty cold
what i found to be so unbeleavable was the road condition
smooth as glass and as clean and rock free as could be.....while i was there there was a storm that knocked some limbs down on the road and that road was clean as a whisle befor the next morning. a very nice place to have fun and ride:aok

Highway 129 is a nice road IF it's not crowded. Unfortunately it's been publicised so much that any ricky racer with a motorcycle or a "sporty" car thinks he can just run over there and crank it up. It is now horrendously crowded on any warm weekend. So much so that you can't get past all the other bikes and cars to really enjoy it. Then there are the rather heavy Police patrols and speed check points. They set up on weekends especially to try and cut down the stupidity that is so rampant.

We were there last June. The average speed on the road was about 25 with brief spurts up to 40 due to the crowding. It did get exciting when the odd crank would come around the blind corner in the opposite direction about 60% in your lane. There was one mini convoy of beemer sedans doing that all less than a car length apart and taking both lanes indiscriminately. A buddy of mine who lives there and I had just pulled off at a view point less than a minute before they came around the corner in our lane.

This road was absolutely fantastic back in the 80's before it got so well known. Now at this point the best time to drive it is during mid week during clear weather in the winter when all the "tourist" ricky racers are home, in school or at work.

Frankly the Chilicouth (SP?) road is a better ride with more open sweepers and only a fraction of the traffic.
