Hi All,

Proposition 73 failed (with all 8 of the other propositions on the ballot) but by the slimmest margin of all of them.

MT, respectfully, your logic doesn't follow. The child in question got an abortion in a state that did not have a parental notification law. She told a school counselor, and the counselor facilitated the entire process, including telling her how to lie to her mother about what was going on, and getting a ride for her to and from the clinic. No one from the school or social services informed the mother. In fact, when she collapsed at school later that week, the counselor, school nurse, and administration still didn't inform the mother on the grounds it might be related to the abortion she had received. The hospital informed the mom when it became life-threatening. The mother in question was single and working a day job at the time, she was not a Christian at that point.

Her child took advantage of the law, specifically because she believed her mother would be disappointed and angry because she had gotten pregnant with her daughter as a teen herself and never made it to college and had lamented that fact and kept stressing "don't make the same mistake I did." The no notification law makes this kind of awful sneaking around possible, and this is just one example of thousands of similar abortions every year. My wife and I went to school with a girl who had 6 abortions by her senior year without her parents ever knowing. Each abortion carries a significant risk, and incrementally reduces your chances of not being able to successfully carry a child to term.

Ultimately, as has been pointed out, the anti-parental consent measures are part of the erosion of parental rights, and the expansion of state control over every sphere of life. Who do you think ultimately cares more about the welfare of our daughters? The state? Politicians? Bureaucrats? Abortionists? NOW? No, my friend, parents care the most about their children, and they are the people who must be carved out of this decision in order to maintain a social and political agenda that has no use for them in the long run.

March 15th Sandy,  I'll smile when I watch this place disappear in my rear view mirror.

The gotcha is that if I and others like me leave, who is going to feed you? You see, if I leave, I'm taking my money, my skills and my taxes with me.

Still funny?

In fifteen years or so, I'll be right behind you. I'm not retiring here. Too expensive.

It turns out I was right...... all eight times last night.

Ten if ya include VA and NJ (no way I was gonna bet against Bloomberg)....

So hows about them apples? Eh?

Probably the only thing you can point to me being wrong about is Kerry.

Was I wrong about WMD? Nope - you were.

Was I wrong about the eventual result in Iraq? Nope - you were.

Was I wrong about guantanamo blowing up in everyone's faces? Nope - you were.

Was I wrong about Plame being inside thuggery? Nope - you were.

Was I wrong about Bush being, well, basically retarded all along? Nope - you were.

So... Sure... I was wrong about Kerry.

But is that really all you can point to?

That one thing? Fine. I can explain that.

It was just me being optimistic. I gave folks like you more credit than was obviously due.

But being wrong 51-49 on that one doesn't exactly rock my world.... It aint gonna make me reflect on much.

But here we are, just 3/4 into the 1st year of his 2nd term - and now basically nobody but the Christopaths want that guy in there.

So really.... was I wrong about much at all? Or just ahead of my time?

That's right, kids, I am God. Bow before me.

And go take a flying you-know-what at the moon while yer at it.

I know. :)   (felt dirty typing that)

The hope is that ... I never again get the chance to gloat.

Pipe dream, I'm aware.

Ah Nuke....

Didn't you delete a post saying to me "How can you be so out of touch with our politics?" in this very thread?

Unbelievable timing.

You can either call it that, or you can refer to it as "Sandman's State".

Thank you. :D
