Here's an interesting perspective.  Just a little food for thought for those
of you who still are not totally convinced that the right man is getting the
  job....

  States won by Gore: 19
  States won by Bush: 29

  Counties won by Gore: 677
  Counties won by Bush: 2,434

Pop. of counties won by Gore: 127 million
Pop. of counties won by Bush: 143 million

Sq miles of country won by Gore: 580,000
Sq miles of country won by Bush: 2,427,000

Professor Joseph Olson of the Hamline University School of Law in St.
Paul Minnesota has produced another interesting new statistic. Professor
Olson looked up the crime statistics for all of these counties and came
  up   with this:

Avg Murder per 100,000 residents in counties won by Gore: 13.2
Avg Murder per 100,000 residents in counties won by Bush: 2.1

Now, what area of this country do you want electing the President of the
  United States, Gore's or Bush's? >> >>

Erm, yes, and your point would be...
Land area is a ridiculous way to show who won an election. The population statistic makes no sense, given the Gore won the popular vote. And the murder rate... since when does that relate to Gore? Is it his fault? Are Gore supporters bad people who kill a lot more than Bush supporters? The murder rate makes alot of sense when you consider that Gore won virtually every urban county in the country. Bush got more counties, Gore got more densely populated ones. The higher murder rate is a matter of population density, nothing more

BS stats like these, bearing little or no relation to the reality of a situation, are often brought up in these elections to justify the outcome - an outcome that doesn't need justification. The people in the Supreme courts made their rulings, and things ended up as they are. I think we can live with that for 4 years.
