It is possible that AT&T is using all the latest tech!

Check and see if you can have newest/latest modem drivers and >>>>firmware<<<< upgrade for your modem?

I got the drivers and that didn't help.  Checked and found a new firmware upgrade applied it and all my problems stopped.  A squadie was having a similar problem and fixed it the same way a FIRMWARE upgrade.

Also make sure your sound card acceleration is set to NO higher then 3/4.  Check in tech support section of AH BBS for further things like sharing software, firewalls, virus, trojan etc....

Complication!

You must look up the Firmware update for YOUR modem.

Be it dialup, DSL, or cable.

You may have to go to your ISP to get it.

Try a lookup using your modem name and model type.

1st step is brand name.  Who makes your modem?

Next step is model number.  Usually it's somewhere on the modem.

Also if it has a serial number write it down.  Some times a manufacturer changes stuff from a ceratin serial number to another certain serial number.  It's fairly rare but does happen.  They usually change the model number but not always.

Next using the maker and or name and the model number do a look up or go to the site of the maker.

Might wanna start your look up with the makers name then narrow it down to the item and then model number once you find the site.

Then download latest drivers and look for any firmware/flash upgrades.

Firmware upgrades are NOT drivers!  They change what is recorded on the chip within the device itself!  The latest tech changes SEEM to be in affect when we connect with AT&T.  Firmware upgrades can make a hugh difference!

good luck hope this helps you :D
