Why?  Tipper Gore is against everything I stand for.    Nirvana isn't old enough to remember the "Parental Advisory" stickers she put on LP's, CD's, and Cassette's in the Mid-late 80's - Current, I do.   Tarmac, I was raised on every war movie possible, and listened to NWA, 2 Live, etc in HS.  I'm sick of the "if you listen to this, or play this, you'll end up knocking off banks and make you violent."  It's horsechit.

Her husband could go take a flying leap as well.  I'm sure he invented the flying leap.

That is some Rock & Roll.
Why doesn't anyone make Rock & Roll anymore?

Amen.  Throw a "tipper sticker" on anything that has a chance of containing violent, graphic, sexual, adult oriented, or child friendly and not let anyone under 18 buy it because of that little tag.  Tell me a tipper sticker has never been an inconvenience because you just go find somone 18+ to buy it for you.   Tipper Gore=power hungry wench.  The record execs gave her power to place the PA stickers on anything and everything without even going throiugh all the court proceedings and litigation first.

Oh and on the InUtero CD by Nirvana, it's "Waif Me" instead of "Rape Me".  And don't think about trying to get a Dead Kennedys CD.

While I wish the industry would self-regulate (as I don't think it's government's business), I definately believe that parents should have say over what their children listen to.  That's why I have no problem with someone saying "go get your parent and then you can see/buy/listen to this."

I plan to be a parent someday, and I want to control what my child is exposed to (within reason, of course).  I don't want the government controlling it any more than I want "popular culture" controlling it.  If the government makes it easier for me to control my  child, that's great.

I already am a parent.   So only High School graduates should watch Saving Private Ryan?  So only High School Graduates should listen to Rap, etc?

Tarmac, every high school kid should watch Saving Private Ryan, it will open eyes to what war is really like (opening 30 minutes).   I'm not saying I should park my 4 year old son on the couch and let him watch.   He will, when he is older.    Hell, they have to sign into the "Selective Service", should kids not "be allowed to realize" that what "may happen" to them will not be pretty and out of Hollywood?  I grew up next door to the CURRENT Assistant Chief of Police for Farmington Hills, at age 13 he was shooting pumpkins with a 12 gauge.   His son, my brother, buddy down the street and I caused some havoc at times.  My best friend, his son is on SWAT in Troy PD, and works downtown for the DEA.   Both of us were listening to "Explicit Lyrics" tapes as kids.

Now music to me is a whole nother ball game.   I'm sorry but I was in a band from ages 9-21 as a drummer.   I was listening to Black Sabbath, Ministry, Danzig, Black Flag, Krokus, Metallica, etc - when I was in grade school.   If you want my take on it, those stickers are comparable to underage drinking.  It is the thrill of breaking the rules that is the high.
