SN1P3R's Movie
« on: February 26, 2001, 09:39:00 PM »
I was asked to do a realplayer movie of last weekends Tribute in the SEA for Brian "SN1P3R" Pettingell, who passed away on December 26th '00. I was really honored that the members of his squad asked me to do this. I showed up in the SEA and tried to film what I could. We had several flyovers, and guys who just bailed out of their planes, then lined up beside the runway to watch, as well as several panzer tanks who did a gun salute. All this was done in such close proximity, that the server was really loaded, causing some warps, etc. I had several people send me their Aces High gun film for me to record, but most of it contained the same warps I saw on my FE the day of the event. I only had about 2:00 of usable Aces High footage, and was worried that I wouldn't be able to finish the movie.

I then talked to discod (SN1P3R's squaddie) in the arena one night about this, he mailed me a VHS tape of some footage he filmed at the convention. I spliced the aces high film, footage from SN1P3R at the con, some still pictures, and some footage of an F4U that performed at the airshow that the convention goers attended, to come up with this movie.

A couple lil things in the movie to look for:

->When you see the F4U's on the runway idling, look behind them at all the troops getting lined up, there were at least 25 troops on the runway.

->When you see the shot of the buffer, all the green text on the left is everyone in the arena giving a <S> at the end of the event. Don't know who started it, but every single person in the arena did that without interuption. No wise bellybutton who had to be different and throw something else in the buffer, just about 60 <S>'s all in perfect order.

->Notice the 109's formed on the runway. Camo's squad. I thought it was cool that he and his squad showed up for this, 109 guys and C-Hawgers rubbing elbows and all.

You can download the movie directly from here, if you would like to see some more movies, click on the banner below. There's one dead link in there (Kryptonite) that I'll be taking care of later tonight.

Thanks all!
hblair

Still working with it jihad. Nice piece of software. I appreciate your help with that. Maybe I can find the time to become better with it. I'm just so used to doing it this way, it's hard to change over.

The guys at the table are sn1p3r (left), discod (center), and I think the fella on the right is rafbader.

Thanks fer the kind words fellas. I tried.

Nicely done

How DO you manage to capture the Aces High films so well?  Any capture software I have tried lags or slows the framerates to a crawl.

EXCELLENT job hblair!  Very cool and a very moving piece!

Thanks so much for taking the time to make this movie.  What a nice way to remember a good friend.

I too will burn this to CD for a keepsake.  You don't by any chance have it available on good old fashioned VHS do you?

Thanks again!  It turned out very good.  You should do this for a living

"A couple lil things in the movie to look for:"

One more thing to look for. SNIPER looking down on you guys sitting in front of your computers while you are doing this, with a big smile on his face. Nice work guys, you probably picked up a guardian angel.
