Free perk plane night.
« on: November 11, 2005, 09:46:26 PM »
I have talked to several and the response is the same.

HTC, could we have a "Free Perk Plane Night" in the MA every other Monday? The day of the week could be different of course, but basically twice a month, for two 24 hour periods, all perk planes would be free of charge in the MA.

It would give some of us that don't have a lot of perk points (me for one) and others a chance to play with the "money" rides with out spending all our "cash".

Just a thought, It would be a lot of FUN!!

262 fest?  Could be interesting, for about 15 minutes.

It'll get boring REALLY fast the moment everyone realizes that everyone else is running.

you just need to earn some perkies. you started out before me, but i have over 2000 perks (and i've lost thousands more on 262's and tempests) just get in a plane with a high eny. try f4u1, 205, hurri2c, p38g, you know, things like that. one sortie in a p38g i got 100+ perks for 4 la7 kills. the perk rides aint even that great anyway, you aren't missing out on much

I think it could be fun. I wouldn't totaly give the 262 away though. Maybe half the amount of perks it takes for those special nights.

Hi Hornet,

>I wouldn't totaly give the 262 away though. Maybe half the amount of perks it takes for those special nights.

Excellent idea! :-) That wouldn't be a Free Perk Night, but more of a Happy Hour ;-)

Your suggestion actually shows the way to an interesting way of determining true perk value by combat: One could start with 0 perks for any aircraft, and then determine the Dweeb Ride of the Night (tm) simply based on aircraft use that night. After each night, the aircraft chosen dweeb ride has its perk cost (starting off at 0 in the first night) is increased by a moderate amount X.

That means that during every Happy Hour, all former Dweeb Rides are expensive and have to compete against free fighters. As long as the majority of players feel the Dweeb Rides are worth it, their price will keep increasing, but if they think the price tag is too high and a free aircraft (or cheaper Dweeb Ride) offers better value-for-perks, they will vote with their feet.

After a sufficiently large number of Happy Hours, we will end up with a perk point pecking order based on honest player estimation of the planes combat value :-) This PPPO will not be the result of lobbying for higher or lower prices by an aircraft's haters or lovers, but truly representative of the combat value the Aces High players are able to get from each aircraft.

Regards,

Henning (HoHun)

Just cross your fingers that the MA will dump and everyone moves to the Back Up Main Arena where everything is FREE!

How about allowing the 'poor' to buy them on credit at very high interest rates.

Thanks Poo, But really my problem is a very high real life factor. 30 hours in the MA in a month is a lot for me, this year I've only been averaging about 10 hours a month. Some months have been 0 hours. As for planes, the F4U-1 and the C.205 are two of my main rides. Not that I don't go up in a LA or Typh from time to time, but I spend most of my time in planes with ENY around 30-40. I just don't have much time to spend anymore. :)
