Hi Hornet,
>I wouldn't totaly give the 262 away though. Maybe half the amount of perks it takes for those special nights.
Excellent idea! :-) That wouldn't be a Free Perk Night, but more of a Happy Hour ;-)
Your suggestion actually shows the way to an interesting way of determining true perk value by combat: One could start with 0 perks for any aircraft, and then determine the Dweeb Ride of the Night (tm) simply based on aircraft use that night. After each night, the aircraft chosen dweeb ride has its perk cost (starting off at 0 in the first night) is increased by a moderate amount X.
That means that during every Happy Hour, all former Dweeb Rides are expensive and have to compete against free fighters. As long as the majority of players feel the Dweeb Rides are worth it, their price will keep increasing, but if they think the price tag is too high and a free aircraft (or cheaper Dweeb Ride) offers better value-for-perks, they will vote with their feet.
After a sufficiently large number of Happy Hours, we will end up with a perk point pecking order based on honest player estimation of the planes combat value :-) This PPPO will not be the result of lobbying for higher or lower prices by an aircraft's haters or lovers, but truly representative of the combat value the Aces High players are able to get from each aircraft.
