new 109 model bugs
« on: November 12, 2005, 08:03:24 PM »
New 109s look good, here are some tweaks to make them more accurate models.

Add 30mm shell ejection to the Bf109K4. The K4 had a different setup on the engine gun than 109G and it permitted shell ejection for the 30mm. Shell should ejectet from mid left side of panel (viewed from rear) where the two 13mm eject - basically have the 30mm eject left and a tiny bit back of the 2 13mm. This should not be done on G14 w/30mm or G6 in case it ever gets the 30mm option back.

Change Bf109G6 tailwheel to the same type as in G14 - including covering the cutout. The G6 had a fixed tailwheel but in AH now it retracts then pops back out to simulate fixed tailwheel.

Change Bf109G6 and G14 20mm capacity to 200 rounds instead of 150. Thge ammo box and is the same as F4 and G2, which now have 200 rds of 20mm.

Butch@K posted supporting evidence of 200rounds 20mm in G6 engine cannon and for 140rpg for the 20mm gondola weapons instead of current 125 rounds.

Truth to be told about the Gondola capacity, I have seen all sorts of load for them in various secondary and primary source, 125, 135, or 140 rpg, 135rpg being mentioned most often.

30mm ejecion port represented accurately on K-4 model.  It's been a while since I looked at it so I said it was on the wrong side in my post above. Soi from behind the plane the 30mm would ejecet to the right of the 13mm - not left.

One thing I noticed thats totally subjective but could be changed in  the 109 cockpits would be to move the instrument panel trim indicators sligtly to the left so that the rudder and aileron trims arent hidden by the gunsite - this way you can change trims without adjusting the head position sideways to get a clear view of then unobsructed by the gunsites.

One thing I noticed, and I'm not sure which is off, is that my analog controls for the elevator and rudder trim in the Spitfires acts as elevator and aileron trim in the Bf109s.  I honestly don't recall which I had it setup for, but one of the two fighter lines does not match the rest of AH's planes.

Gods, not this again.

15mm was claimed by one historian and then propagated out into other sources.  When more modern authors went back to the primary sources, e.g. German documents, that mistake was corrected.

Heck, it is easy as sin to see that there is no way 15mm guns would even fit there.

My fault, you right. I looked my sources again. 13mm is correct.

Sorry for confusion

What method is acceptable to check the speeds for the K4?

The rated speeds for the model that I have access to indicate a given figure at Sea Level, 19,685', and something over 20k'.

I believe that the current K4 model runs about 9-10mph slower than the most often quoted performance figures for the K4.
