Can someone confirm this story
« on: August 08, 2000, 11:26:00 AM »
I just heard on the radio that Dick Cheney who is 59yrs was called before the draft board during Veitnam 5 times to report for duty. He received 5 differments and was directly quatoed by the draft board as saying "I had other priorities at the time".
This story came from the News segment of the "Howard Stern radio show". I cannot confirm his source of the information and I was wondering if anybody had heard the same thing. It certainly does open a can of worms for the republicans who did their share of finger pointing over the Bill Clinton draft dodging.

In the same broadcast it was mention that
Leiberman was also in favor of censoring TV and Radio sex and violence as well as certain video games. This is very diappointing to me as I do not care for censorship as a means to "control" the masses from ourselves. I myself am Jewish and would like to get behind him as a Vice Presidential canidate but it is very difficult with such a bizarre agenda.

Hadn't heard that about Chaney. Anybody see the braking news on FOX news last night? Rep. James Traficant (D)Ohio said he had signed affidavits (SP?) of witnesses saying Janet Reno was apointed AG of her county in Florida as a payback to the mob, AND another  affidavit (i know that's spelled wrong) that says there is video of her and a MOB call girl hehe.  He then went on to officialy accuse her of treason for not appointing an indipendant councel for the china-gate thingy.

my jaw hit the floor hehe

LOL,

I want that video of Janet Reno getting nasty with a call girl. I'll use it to keep the rodents out of my back yard.
LOL, thanks for the visual Udie.

Hehe, anything from the "Howard Stern Radio Show"(entertainment for arrested-developmental/anally-fixated males)would have to be highly suspect at the very least.

Anything spewed by Stern, a hypocrite who shields his own daughters from the garbage he doesn't mind dumping on other people's teens, is  to be taken with a ton of salt.

In answer to your question tho, i have no idea other than the fact Cheney did not serve in the Armed Forces.  Why that should be of any concern to Stern, is obvious.  Hell, Stern doesn't like Lieberman either.

It's true. Dick Cheney is no David H. Hackworth.

So what. He was in college, and he had a student deferment.

That isn't the same as getting a "fortunate son" placement in the National Guard or the like, or being a draft dodger.

(And by the way, my brother and I enlisted in the Army in 1968; he went to Vietnam, I didn't.)

There is no can of worms to open here. Personally, I'm more interested in Cheney's financial holdings.

Clinton does get a lot of fingers pointed at him, I will agree with that... and it's all his own doing.

ps: F4UDOA, I'd like a copy of the video when you get it,  we've got a litte roach problem out in the shed.

Cabby,

Interesting view point you have.
Anally fixated?? If you mean fixated on chick's tulips count me in. If you mean anal retentive then your describing the rebublicans.

Why would Stern be a hypocrite for shielding his children from adult humor? Isn't that the job of a parent. If someone elses children are listening isn't that the responsability of their parents? Howard Stern is a comedian not a polatition and should not be held accountable for other peoples children. And as a matter of fact the information he provided turns out to be correct. Dick Cheney was a draft dodger.

As far as Stern not liking Leiberman I would have to agree. I am dissapointed with the choice of Leiberman because he stands for consorship and the merger of church and state.

Gunthr,

Funny you should metion the fortunate son.
That would be George W. Bush. He was the fortunate reserve pilot who managed to avoid getting sent anywhere near a combat area.
There you have it, the republican ticket.
A fortunate son and a draft dodger.
I'm really not that crazy about the Democratic ticket either but when faced with two evils I vote for
Jesse Ventura.

LOL!!!  After that comment all your other points are null and void.  You don't know that Al Gore is a "fortunate son" as well??  He aint no tobacco-pickin'-good-ol'-boy from a little-ol' Tennesse farm, of that i can assure you.  And what the hell is wrong with being the son of a successful man??  Is that "bad"???  Or is it that you are envious???  If you are, now that's "bad".

If you don't know what "Anally Fixated" means, well, look it up.   BTW, i don't think Stern should be censored either.  However, anyone who actually listens to him regularly proves only that they have a rather low humor-threshold.

Cabby,

As a matter of fact I was borrowing a quote from Gunthr when I said "fortunate son". Like I said, I'm not crazy about the democratic ticket either. Jealous, I don't think so. I've been working long enough where I don't have to be jealous of what anyone else has. By the way George W. Bush hardly qualifies as a succesful man. He was born rich and managed to quit drugs just in time to take office. And having a sitting president for your father at the time doesn't hurt either.

You don't like Jesse Ventura? Do you know his politics or his wresting career. I don't watch wrestling but he has more credibilty with me than most politicians. Do you prefer to be lied to by wealthy beaurocats?

I think your use of Anally fixated is incorrect. Maybe you should look it up. And thanks for shot about the low humor threshold. Let me take a guess. Your a hillbilly, I bet you think "King of the Hill"
and Jeff Foxworthy are pretty funny huh.
And oh yeah. HEE HAW. Yuk, Yuk, I bet your a barrel of laughs.

hehehehe "I had other priorities at the time" boy what a cold blooded statement. You mean the other few million guys who served in Nam didn't have any other priorities?

But it is true.. question of Cheney's 5 deferments came up during his conformation for Sec. of Defense. I thought Gore would pick John Kerry a Silver Star receiver. You'd have two Vietnam Vets vs two chicken hawks... Ahhh but he picked Lieberman. At first I didn't like his choice but then realized he's almost Carter like in his religious believes and would knock much of the wind out of the Republican sails. When the try and attach Gore with Clinton, TreeHuggie could get up and say "Hey hold on now, I didn't have sex with that woman, Monica Lewinsky. Joe how bout you?..... No... I didn't have any sex with that woman either....

Sorry just can't warm up to George the younger Whats his claim to fame that he drank a case of beer everyday till he was 40?.. That he got the taxpayers to build a big bellybutton stadium for his team that he promptly sold for 15 million?.. That he got others to get up on stage and trash the service record of the person who should be on the Republican ticket?.. I would've voted for Big John. He towers over the whole lot of em'. (Cindy cute too)

//It's true. Dick Cheney is no David H. Hackworth.\\

Lost all respect for this guy... Belgrade Dave.... 5th column for Slobo

The big story is Cheney went to the middle east to convince opec to CUT production in April 1999... Whoa! He doesn't denied it.. says it was good for his oil company
I figure he's ripped me off personally for about $600.

Actually, I've found Ventura to be quite an agreeable, reasonably intelligent guy.
And, he is cool too.

Ventura for president would be neat.

Putin "But Mr Prrezident whe cannot ahlow yoo to builtink national mizzile systm"

Ventura "This is called the POLE DRIVER" *THUD*

Heh, would be cool

Plus, he has irritated the religious right, which in my book is a big plus

DUMA for president, Ventura for VP!

One question: you had a good, decent man in McCain (as far as I can tell). What made Bush more prefered by the republican voters? His more "solid" support for the churches of his faith?

I dunno.

10Bears you right. What up with the ticket this year. It's like sitting through a bad double feature of Attack of the Killer Tomato's or I Married a teenage Werewolf.
Which one do you watch? I would have voted for John Mcain too. I love watching him on stage with George W. when Mcain smiles so hard he looks like he is going to shatter his teeth if he can't leave the room or punch George in the face. And Cheney is an OPEC lacky if ever there was one. What a bloated bellybutton he is.

Funked,

I know, I hate the Tipper Gore censor Nazies.
Since when is that part of being a Democrat?
I thought that was the Tits and bellybutton party?
I really hate to not vote but this election year sucks.
