Anyone here on AH in Civil Air Patrol, cuz im thinking of joining. Is CAP fun, exciting, boring, waste of time, or is it worth every minute.

CAP is sooooooooo corny...I was gonna try and fly their 172's but was told in addition to flying for them Id have 2 wear the camo to local events and park cars! HAHA.....
It wasnt for me.....But seriously...If you are looking to fly Air Force, or just want a great resume builder I would do it....I am pretty sure you progress by years in and rank, so depending on your age be prepared to be taking orders from a 15 year old master sargeant! HAHA

I'm glad you decided that it wasn't for you rather than them telling you.

I've got a filled out application packet on my desk (not literally...it's filed somewhere in my 'system') that I haven't returned becasue of career uncertainty at this point.  I'm in the middle of a deal which will cement me as a big bossman and if it goes through...so does the CAP packet.  If you're looking for general info I can help to a point but can definately help you with who to talk to if you need questions answered.

On that note...any CFIs or Commercial Pilots with at least 1000 hours and instrument ratings looking for employment in Ohio.  I might have a need for ya :)

I was in it a little while, it wasnt for me. Some of it was alright, I didn't mind learning drills, marching in the snow and all th physical stuff. But they ask for too much for kids, I mean I DO have a social life believe it or not. Cav58d is right about having to take orders from someone younger than you, its really annoying. You progress through the ranks by taking tests every other week. IMHO they are too much of an Air Force Wanna-Be, but instead of being armed with young men, they have kids who have not gone through puberty.
But cav58d was also right about Air Forve Application builder, I think 75% of Cadets at the USAF Academy were in CAP.

Will thanks guys for the post, Maybe ill give it try, dont know. I hate taking oders at the age of 17 from a 15 year old. I hate the hear a kid with his balls dropping and him saying COME ON YOU GIRLY GIRLS, 1,2,3 1,2,3 COM UEHEH UN!!!

Throw me a note there.  Not going to devulge any info on the BBs but I had a very successful meeting today and once I chew it over and make a decision there's the potential that I'd require at least 2 pilots working for me.  If glass cockpits intrigue you and you could stand a move from FL (God knows I couldn't leave Palm Beach County fast enough) I "might could" have a spot for ya in the springtime :)

I'm not Golfer, but... Colgan is hiring for the NorthEast. I spoke with them earlier today.

CommutAir was/is looking for their 1900D's also.  Nice airplanes.

Didn't go to the interview but Amy from HR was a wonderful person to talk to.

There was a company in Bridgeport looking for a C-551 F/O (Do take careful notice that is a SINGLE PILOT airplane and you're an gear monkey that doesn't get to log it) but I don't remember their name.  I was qualified at the time so if you've got 1000 hours you might be too.  I've been twiddling my thumbs for about 4 months now waiting for a C-560 job to open up but with the shambles that the industry is in...nobody's leaving!  Damn them.   Right to hell I say.

Jigsaw...

AirNet Systems here in Columbus just hired a couple of SIC pilots who did well in their interviews.  You get lunch and a learjet ride to/from if you interview there.  Their online application takes a while to fill out but once you are qualified (according to computer score) they'll call you.  Usually 1 working day after you submit once you're qualified.

It's a job.  Not the best not the worst and by the time you get on the line it'll be spring time and you'll get to dodge thunderstorms rather than trying to shed ice :)

I wound up having my class bumped and not taking the alternative options they offered this summer.  It's still a good company and I can't say word one bad about the people I've met there.

I have a homepage?  I'm not getting the bill so I guess I better not knock it LOL!

I have...AA1A, AA5A, AA5B and the newest of new tigers.
