RTBing in a no kill fighter ?

Ok I and sure this has been spoken about before, but I whish there was some sort of bonus or reason for RTBing a Fighter with no kills.

What sort of bonus....? I dont know.

I always try to get back to base and VERY rarely Auger but it dawned on me as I was RTBing this morning that I am wasteing my time and there fore my money by RTBing with no kills in a fighter.

I suppose that half the reason I fly is to be good at it. I end up on people six with no ammo quite a lot, and I do my best to stay on there six when this happens, why well I want them to auger and I want to see if I can do it. (funny thing is it always seams easier to stay on someones six when I am dry)

But now I dont see much point in RTBing in a fighter with no kills.
Buff's yes but not Fighters.

I guess its just time to start augering them so I can get into the fight quicker

what do the rest of you think ?

I dunno...
I don't like wasting a plane (virtual or not) if it served me well in my flight. I don't care about getting to the fight faster; getting home is a fight in itself for me. Plus, when you auger, it means that some clueless pilot will get a kill he doesn't deserve, which is not cool.

I would like to see no kills/points awarded *at all* for pilots not able to get back home or ditch/bail at least in friendly territory.

Many players fight in a kamikaze style, becouse they know that in a way or in another they get something. I've seen many buff drivers bailing out after dropping bombs, suicide dive bombers and fighters who vulch fields with acks up just to get a kill and then die. It does make little sense to give kills and points to those (virtually) dead pilots.

Again, you are free to play the way you want, but kills and points should be awarded only to players able to get back home.  I think we would see a big change in the behaviour of many players in the MA and then a big change in the Main.

Actually Gatt, what you idea would do is have zero effect on kamikaze furballers who already don't care about points and just further increase the amount of borderline timid flyers into full blown ones.

As for the original idea...  it'd leave itself open to abuse of endless .ef on the runway without even having to take off.  yanno?

I think you should re-read my post

I was talking about the times when your flying a fighter with no kills and its a 10 minute flight to base.

I have nursed a crippled LA5 (missing half a wing) two sectors just to land it...

Sorry Mussie, I missed the part about the bonus. The thing in itself is not a bad idea but I agree with Shane ... the danger of .ef-ers ...

Shane, I think that the situation in the MA would be better, certainly not worse than now.

I've been saying that for a long time now. When ToD comes along, if it ever does I see no reason why we should have rank in the MA anymore. There really is no reason for it now, but for those that think rank makes you one of the great ones, they can go be a virtual ace in ToD.

The time it takes to rtb and land is just too much time away from what I really like, FIGHT!  If you only have 2 hours to play the game and you spend 45 minutes rtb'ing, then you must re-evaluate!  I was trained by people who land every plane if possible, and it was hard to break out of that, but the freedom to not let that be a stress is wonderful.  No worries! :)  I havent checked but I would imagine I only land about 15-20% of the time, and it doesnt bother me one bit.  If I up a base and the enemies disappear, its swan dive into the trees time.  If someone asks, "wanna go DA"  I only rtb if I have a handful of scalps, otherwise its dirt city!  :aok

I always try to land it. First off, I don't always know when I get a kill or assist and not even notice it. Second, and more importantly, the flight home is often one of the most fun parts of a flight.

Trying to limp home a P38 with a pilot wound, missing left wing, dead right engine, missing right aerilon, damaged gear and flaps punctured fuel tank and trying to get belly down on the runway right before the black tunnel of doom closes in on me when I'm 10 feet over the ground...

that's a rush to me =)

Personally I land every sortie that is landable. Augering on purpose just doesnt exist in my world. Though I can get my self into stooopid situations which there is no getting out of and I hate my self for it every time I do that. This doesnt mean Im timmid just that I feel every sortie that I dont land is a failed one.

I only auger when the night has been really frustrating and all I have been doing is flying around without any decent fights.  Then I am so sick of just flying around that I'll dig a hole to china with that bird.  Honestly when that starts I just log off and go watch TV or something that is actually fun LOL

I never, ever auger.  I just make a controlled landing at a point ten feet below ground level.

Often while inverted or going straight down at 500mph.
