Launched from A19 with 8 flights of B-17G's and the rest of the squadron in P-38J's for escort. We were supported with additional escort from Rouge Squadron and VFS 1000 also in P-38J's. Our target was A65.
We hit our target at T+55 in the frame and hit most of the targets there. Made a second pass and finished it off with the exception of 1 bomber hanger. We then received instructions in-flight from the frame CO to fly down the line and hit targets of oppertunity at A64, A62, A63, and A50. We dropped ords on all 5 primary targets for the Allies this frame. All in all I think we left 3 hangers standing after it was all said and done. Saw a couple of enemy fighters during our entire flight. As the bomber flight lead I had 1 Bf-110 get withing 800yrd of me. He got lit up by massed fire from the bombers in the formation and broke for the deck with several of our escorts in pursuit. Not sure what happened to him after he broke.
Our escorts performed great. I think we only lost 2 or 3 bombers out of the 24 we launched with to enemy action. We destroyed many targets and RTB'd to A17 and landed with just a few minutes left in the frame.
