Why I dont think the Spit XVI should be perked

Not its characteristics (which are wonderful) -- but its bottom line performance in the arena.

Its KPD is only 1.11, comparable to the 1.15 of the La-7, the 1.14 of the N1K1, this tour.  Its worse than the tiffy in that department (1.47).


It is the new toy out of its box, and it has seen a lot of use. I suspect theres been some pilots migrating from Lalas to the XVI, as the La kills seen down from past tours.

It hasnt overwhelmed the MA in quality, or really in numbers. it accounts for only 8% of all air Ma kills.

Its everywhere, but it hasnt been imbalancing. I'm betting it doesnt get perked.

In the past I have successfully shot down the entire BT squad in a them vs. myself incident.  More than once.

Last night, I got 3 out of 4.  The only survivor was BTAirsol flying a P-51D.  The rest were Spit 16s...I too was a Spit 16.  I don't see any problem with the 16 with it's current ENY value (5).

In fact, my biggest headache has been AKkobek (under a new name) in Spitfire 8's.  He can fly that sucker.  Our first engagement by the time I realized he was actually going to fight well...it was too late.  We were engaged for perhaps a minute and he took that sucker right to the edge of the envelope and I couldn't keep the 38J with him.

Also in furballs I see less 8's than 16s...and am more cautious of the 8's.

This has been the first month with the Spit 16.  You have to remember that everyone and their mother has been out in the Spit 16.  A lot of those people in the Spit 16's are awful spit pilots who just wanted to test out the characteristics and the new plane.


The real numbers will come next month.

in the spit16 you can chase a lala for a little while, or turn fight and own a zeke.  its uber and probably deserves a perk, but so do many other planes that are not so im in two minds. It's clearly the replacement for the spit5 enthusiasts. The 8 is far more like a spit5 in true performance, but our aceshigh spit16 is just aas good as the old spit5, if not better with the roll rate and engine.  it flatturns a little slower, and stalls about 5mph faster but its overall performance i would rate as the best in the entire game, with out a doubt.


if the old spit5 could be compared to a sopwith camel, this new spit16 would be a pitts special.
And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.

There is no sense in perked Spit14 and nonperked Spit16, because 16 outperform 14 in every aspect, exept hi-alt performance.

just because the single time you've flown has been in mars' pitts you feel like a charter pilot in Air America.........lol.

i'll have you know matey, i got almost 10 hours towards my ppl, have flown and landed gliders, done training with RAF cadets and I live not more than 2 miles from the 3rd busiest airport in the UK.  thats not to mention the many many pleasure cruises and aerobatic trips i have been lucky enough to be a passenger on.


you have no clue of my knoledge of any certain aircraft.

In truth i have not been in a pitts, nor in an airborne camel, but i have seen both flying and know enough about the two to make that comparison.


more importantly if you looked further than your pathetic attempt to flame me into a war you would see my comparison is more than valid too.

It is just my opinion that there is no way the Spit16 should be perked.

I think the LA7 sets the bar for perking. And the LA7 is a monster, and I don't think it should be perked.

My comment to HT is simply this.

Since we are (and should be) leaving the LA7's and Spit16s unperked.
 
Why do we perk the TA152 and the C Hog?

My facts could be wrong, but I beleive we had more C Hogs in WW2 than 3 cannon LA7's.

And the TA152 just isn't that good to rate a perk.  Even with a cheapo perk tag, no one flys it much.

Personally, I wouldn't call any Spitfire a Camel and I wouldn't call any Spitfire a Pitts.

I'd take any Spitfire over both of them any day of the week...and twice on sunday.

his comparisons are so out of wack that you wouldnt have to know much about aviation to begin with to know he's a complete fool to make the comparisons he has.


Oh toejam me i forgot, he lives next to an airport. LOL ****, with that kind of connection one must be lead to beleive he is the tom cruise of aviation.
